Merlin and I are fine.

We were walking through copley to see the race and heard the noise, thought it was thunder and started to head home, Then the chaos and finally the police arrived told us to get out of there.

My whole neighborhood is a disaster, this is such a horrible sick tragedy :( I am seeing and hearing ambulances and can't even think straight.

I am so glad you guys are ok! How scary! My coworker's brother and sister-in-law were finishing the marathon right around the time of the explosions (she was tracking them online). Haven't heard anything yet.

Seriously, WTH is wrong with people?? It's a marathon!

So glad you and Merlin are ok! The news on the radio at work was just talking about it a few minutes ago and I immediately thought of you guys since you live there. How terrible and so scary. :(

Coworker's brother and sister-in-law are safe. He was waiting at the finish line for his wife (he finished 10 minutes before the explosions), she was at mile 25.5 and was diverted away.

They have found other devices and are telling people in the city to stay inside our buildings.
Since my apartment is right by where the race went by, I have to stay in.

This is such a disaster :( I can't even imagine.. people who ran and families and friends of people who ran going to see them and it's just.. what is wrong with people?

My friend's husband was across town working and they evacuated his building, put people on buses, and bussed them out within about an hour. I hope you stay safe Fran. If you can get out later and go stay with any friends outside of the city it might be a good idea.

I feel sick to my stomach over this whole thing and can't stop wanting to cry. I just looked this morning to see what the qualifying time requirement is to run the half-marathon in Boston... the race I run here is a qualifier... Boston is a bucket list item for a lot of runners, I know it was for my friend. I can't imagine finally making it to Boston, running, being at mile 25 and being told you can't finish because there were BOMBS... even if you finished, like my friend, she's waited this long to be able to go run it and now she will look back on the day with this as her memory, instead of being able to be happy and proud of what she did. Knowing people died and were injured. I read an update somewhere that said people were running in to the diverted finish line and kept running to the nearest hospital so they could try to donate blood because there are just so many victims who lost a lot of blood. It's just horrible and I don't understand it. It's a marathon... there's no political statement to be made here... not that it's any better but at least targeting some kind of political building makes sense. These are just innocent people. why?? There is no understanding it, I know, but. I just can't.

Mile 26 was in honor of the victims in Newtown...

I'm glad that you in Merlin are alright.

What a horrible and senseless tragedy.
