His nails do need a trim. But even if I trimmed them, they'd still be pretty long. His previous owner never cut them, so the quicks are long. I've tried keeping them short and letting the quicks recede, but that only worked up to a certain point. I think the only way to get them nice and short now would be to have him anesthetized and let the vet cut them.
