Oooh, you guys are exactly right about the color. Those pictures of the Akita and mixes depict Zaphod's color a lot better than my pictures of him do.

Akita would explain a great deal of his temperament, too.

I may have hound on the brain, but i see hound. i think he is an Akita/Coonhound mix. He has hound legs, and hound feet, and a hound stance. There are houndy features in his face too.

Would Doberman account for that as well? Or instead of...?

I'd be really curious...I do see a lot of Dobe, hound as well...

Akita would explain the mask and ruff though...

Dobe could account for some of his temperament traits, too. He's a little more goofy than an Akita, but I see more of the serious Akita temperament when he's "on guard" (which is far too often, but he's relaxing a bit more every day.) He's very quiet.

I love his looks, and especially the athletic stance. Maybe that's why I see hound. You know how I feel about hounds.

Dobekita Hound?

What about his back end though? I see Dane, though I guess that could just as easily be Dobe or hound...

Drmom, I see hound in him too. Not sure what kind, but that tail of his screams hound to me, and his hind end might too.

Zoom, I dunno much about his rear, considering it's got a long way to go before it's adequately muscled again. Dane is a definite possibility too, but he IS rather small for a Dane mix.

I can't wait until he's done growing and filling out. He's a stunning dog any way you look at it though.

I can't either. I think he's a really good looking boy. Pictures don't capture him quite as well as I'd like...

He could be a black sable Walker clone, that's for sure! Anatolian is another really good guess (and not far off the mark for the local dogs, there are lots of LGDs that roam with the free-range flocks around here) thanks Erica!

Zaphod's do the satellite thing a LOT, Breeze. Usually after he's been sleeping. He had one ear up yesterday and I swear he looked just like Walker.

I saw a little bit of GSD in his face, mostly the way his facial structure is under the skin. When I saw his legs, I thought maybe some sighthound? He has such graceful legs, in my opinion anyway, his body structure doesnt look quite right to have much, if any dutch shepherd though...
