I got lucky that the first place I took the dogs, they felt comfortable and we had wonderful results. I tried two other people for Bailey that were closer to home when I lived in WI and neither she nor I were impressed with them. She's always been at ease with Dr. Julia, since the first visit. The other two we went to she didn't want them to touch her.

Dr. Annie comes to TC Rehab twice a month and we have a lot of mutual clients it seems. I think she's a great choice for "just needs an adjustment!"

After six training sessions, between five to ten minutes each, Cali has learned to "beg"! I think it's her cutest trick as of right now, I don't know if it's the typical "beg" position, but she's on her haunches and she basically lifts her paws in the air as though she's at a football game. :p

Next trick ideas:

- Face (put her paw to her face)
- Bow (play bow position)
- Roll Over ---> Play Dead
- Jump (in place)

Came into the room and the poodley twins were actually asleep next to each other on the couch. How can this be?

Holy shmoley I just saw a woman at the dog park with two French Spaniels, which I had never heard of before but they were GORGEOUS and lovely.

I may have actually drooled.

Have you ever been sitting there totally chilling (in the dark mind you) and not paying attention to the dog and then one moment you glance over your shoulder to see this grinning, impish little face staring a hole through you, trying to will you to throw the ball that is magically at your feet. Mildly unsettling.

Hudson should probably learn dog on dog manners. I think Netti is going to eat him on vacation. Deservedly because he's a rude Little Sh*t, but I like him and would rather he not be eaten

Have been starting to give the ***** Boxer some more freedom. Like potty time off the long line and such. Apparently tonight, she decided she didn't like that freedom. She'd much rather be outside running around than sitting in the nice warm house.

Ugh. There's a reason I went with dogs who like to please you. I call her, she give me THE look and turns around and runs away. Thank you, hours upon hours of recall practice and positive reinforcement for letting me touch her/pet her/I'm not going to drag you inside every time I look at you. Very helpful. I hate her moods.

Good lord I love this dog. For the first time in a really long time Squash got really spooked by something new - an oscillating fan at rally class. But while we were waiting our turns on the courses, I just hung out within his leash's reach of it and quietly verbally marked/rewarded moving closer to and investigating the fan. By the end of the night he was completely chill and kept walking up to stand in front of it and get fanned.

On the other hand, based on his performance on the courses I'm not sure we're ready for our trial this weekend. SHOULD BE FUN.

Apparently Siri is coming into season. I had her this afternoon but didn't notice anything. I got a text tonight that she's definitely swollen. I HAZ A SAD! That means I won't be able to show her in puppy at all! She was less than a month too young for the first trial, and she'll be too old for the next trial.

THIS IS WHY I WILL HAVE BOYS! :)

Mia would not sleep at all last night. I have no idea why. We had two relatively lazy days but she usually deals fine. We also played ball and did tricks last night.

Not sure if it was the storm or what but she was whining since about 2-3 am. Pacing on the bed. Trying to coax me into waking up... Might also be because I went to bed early last night and she's used to me sleeping less than five hours a night. Anyways I wanted to beat her (not really).

Last night she was adorable playing though. And she got bed zoomies lol

Rose hasn't peed since last night because rain makes papillons melt.

True statement.

I swear, Cali gives me the most pitiful look if we go out in the rain to the bathroom. I've taken her on a walk before when it started to downpour on us, needless to say, she was very unimpressed with me.

Rowan is wicked smart... 5-7 repetitions and he's learned a command. Usually, anyway - some more complicated ones take a bit longer. But he always amazes me with what a quick learner he is. Sweet Riffers is not. It takes him weeks of intermittent training sessions to learn something new.

The one trick I've tried to teach Rowan that he couldn't get is "sit pretty." I think he's too barrel chested and not conscious enough of his body - he tries but he tips over every time he does it. If I try to steady him he gets too excited to focus. I finally called it a wash because it's not that important and we both get frustrated with it.

Riff, however, sits pretty on his own when he wants attention, just with his feet on the person he's interacting with. I started to put the command to it a few days ago and have been gently encouraging him to hold himself up, front feet in the air, and he's already picking it up! I'm so proud of him :) I think the concept of capturing the behavior is much easier for him to understand than luring.

Sally has a hot spot on her back and is in the cone if shame. Luckily, it's not all that bad because Jack "told" us she had it before it could get worse. Jack is an inflammation detecting lab-- if one of us has a cut or even something like a sprained ankle he finds the area, sniffs at it intently, and wants to lick it. I saw him sniffing at a spot on Sally's back like crazy and sure enough, hot spot!

Blaze saw himself in a hand mirror (uh, he's NEVER noticed mirrors before).

Then promptly tried to bite and tug the mirror.

Snipe has been invited to go to the giant Can Am flyball event in IN in October which is totally awesome because 1. She's just now getting competition ready and will debut in September, 2. this is our club's *fast* team and the only one going, and 3. I have family and friends I can stay with in the area so I only have to cover gas and a small portion of the entry. Super cool!

Buuuuut I can't announce it on fb because they need to make sure enough folks can go and so I need to wait until that is confirmed. ARGH. I wanna brag on my dog!

Sometimes I wonder why sitting on a couch and squeaking a tennis ball for 15 minutes straight is fun to the dog.

Juno is standing here crying because Lucy is being a bed hog and there is not enough room for Juno to get on it to lie down. So then I have to make Lucy get up and move over and tell her tsk tsk you need to share with your sister. Swear to God it's like having children.
