Yeah we did discuss potentially trying the Vit B injections to see if it yields any results. We did discuss treating for SIBO as well and I have some Metronidazole, however, her stools are firm on the turkey and sweet potato mix so I've held off on that (Metra's not my favorite drug for a lot reasons. I may ask for Tylan.)

I'm definitely open to another opinion and I'm considering seeking out an integrative vet who might have some holistic ideas for supporting her digestion.
I was going to suggest both B12 injections and Tylan. We went that route with Payton. The baytril didn't do anything except WHILE he was on it, and then immediately after he'd go off, he'd be back to being sick. But since her stool is firm... well, I'd probably be inclined to give it a whirl anyway.

Our holistic vet is the one who told us to use the Tylan. You can order it off Fosters & Smith without an rx IIRC. I know I ordered it from somewhere without any rx. She did prescribe us two herbs for digestion too. I can try to find the pill bottles and see what they were.

Ok interesting, thanks for the info! I am interested in the Tylan and more comfortable with that than the Met. If you do dig up those bottles I would be curious to know as well!

Why, helllllloooooooo puberty! Shaman (the artist formerly known as Gimmick), has, shall we say, discovered himself. My little man is now an icky boy who wants to hump everything that holds still long enough. Oh, joy. Oh, rapture.

Really impressed with a fellow breeders direction, we had a lovely talk last night over this dog and how hes going to use him. Other than the slight face slop, which he doesnt throw, Im in love. I will be getting something from him, if I have to sell my vital organs to do so XD

because FEETS! :rofl1:

I am dead beat tired. I just took all three of my dogs hiking for about 4 hours. I normally only take one or two of them, but they all were in serious need of an outing so I braved it and took all three. I went with a friend of mine and her two dogs and we had a blast.... and... I just might have pictures.

Btw... Bamm was a REALLY good boy today. We passed runners, people on bikes and other dogs and he didn't really react. He growled at one dog, but he didn't fully explode and turned his attention back to me so I heavily rewarded him for looking back at me.

Why do you prefer tylan over met? (I've never heard of Tylan before!)
I've known several people with dogs who have had seizures in response to Met. Weird and anecdotal, I know, but in a breed already seizure-prone and several close to me seeing that it makes me nervous. I'm not totally opposed to it ultimately but I would prefer to try Tylan first.

I used to not mind dog hair so much. Until my mom pointed out that when I have a child that is in the crawling and drooling stage...s/he is going to get coated in dog hair. And the toys s/he inserts into his mouth will, too.

Ew. I suddenly want dogs with no hair. LOL

My only hope is that maybe their fur won't condense so quickly, since we'll be in more than just a two bedroom apartment...as it stands now, I'd have to vacuum three times a day to keep my carpets free of hair!

Does anyone else ever feel like they just need to take a break from the dog world? Stay home and enjoy my dogs and nothing else. It's easier said than done of course but I feel like that's what I need.

I don't even know how to word it but I get really annoyed when something my dog does that I mention turns into a 'well I have a BORDER COLLIE and they are SO MUCH SMARTER than YOUR dog. And they would do XYZ. So obviously they're smarter.'

It's just irksome. 1. Mia is **** smart. I've lived with quite a few dogs and trust me, she's a smart cookie. 2. Having had multiple breeds on the 'top 10 lists' of smart dogs they vary among individuals. Shelties may be 'smart' but Trey really wasn't. Nikki was. 3. Similarly, individual dogs have very different personalities. We've had a lot of paps and they would all react differently in different circumstances. Ie: Rose is not Mia. Not at all. If you have ONE individual of a breed it's a bit difficult to blanket statement what the breed would/wouldn't do. 4. Dogs are not all smart in the same way. 5. That top 10 list doesn't even include a lot of breeds! I guess those breeds must not be intelligent because they weren't common enough to make the list... Why are we using this thing as the bible of dog intelligence?

Ok just had to get that out.

I'm probably being petty. I dunno. It frustrates me.

I find when you talk to dog people about dogs all they want to do is tell you about their dogs and they don't give a flying **** about yours. They may ask about yours out of politeness, but they can't wait for their turn to arrive to extol the qualities of their dog(s).

We dog ladies put an awful lot of effort into our animals and not so much effort into casual human-human relationships.

Despite what the above looks like, I'm not complaining. Just remarking on behaviour I see time and time again, and see periodically in myself.

I don't think it's petty... It's really frustrating when people are "story toppers" in just about anything, and refuse to acknowledge that your experiences could even begin to come close to theirs. Especially when you're not trying to best them, just share something.

I wouldn't really worry about it. You had dogs growing up right? And I'm assuming fur ingestion didn't affect you too badly. :p If you're really worried about it you can make a dog free zone (I did, because our vacuuming habits are sub par and I need a place to let her play where Mu can't bathe her).

Yes that is true. I know people in all aspect of life that do that. Oh wait you think THAT was cool? Well *I* did XYZ. So much cooler.

I know in guilty too (cause c'mon... Mia is pretty much the best thing ever). Going to make a better effort of NOT doing that.

Mia is the best thing ever and please don't stop telling Mia stories because I will be sad and I don't think I'll be the only one. :rofl1:

Payton opened the screen door this morning and let himself out. I fed everybody then went to go pee like I always do, he came barging into the bathroom to get me like he always does, I came back to the kitchen and was standing right there and was about to open the door and let them all out after breakfast like I always do - and he apparently just COULD NOT WAIT for me any longer.

So he wedged his big fat head against the door, pushed, and out he went.

Sometimes I cannot stand this puppy. Using his needle nose to open his soft-crate. Locking himself in my bedroom. Opening the screen door with his stupid fat head. **** dog.
