It's my birthday tomorrow. So I'm taking Obi to a DockDogs practice. I'm a little worried because 1. I'm so a total newbie and 2. Since I've been on mat leave, he's been more isolated from other dogs and I'm sure that hasn't helped his reactivity. Ahhhh! I hate looking like a fool. This is why I don't venture outside my comfort zone.

Sawyer got himself ran over at the park last week by a pack of dogs and has been ouchy ever since. I've been trying to keep him quiet, but the squirrels are not cooperating with that plan. Instead they're hanging out on the branches right outside the windows and taunting him into running and barking and twirling. I'm taking him to the chiro tomorrow and hopefully that will get him squared back up. I hate seeing him not feeling 100%.

Jasper is hilarious. He really likes to "police" other animals and he gets on their case if they're being bad. He's always watching the cats to make sure they're not doing something they shouldn't, and same with the other dogs. Like today, I was thawing out some meat on the counter, and Yarrow went into the kitchen. A minute later Jasper jumps up and starts whining and runs into the kitchen. Sure enough Yarrow has his front feet up on the counter. Jasper has done this before with other dogs...he'll totally body check them and give a little growl, and once they look properly chagrined, he leaves them alone. Or when the horses are out grazing in the yard, he'll bark when they start eating the apples out of the trees, etc.

I don't know how he has such a good sense for what's allowed and what's not allowed, but he sure does! Kind of handy.

Love it :). I guess this is a little different, but Skye does not tolerate the other dogs checking out my birds. If I bring someone else upstairs and they are staring or sniffing at the cages, she gets really bothered, paces by them, gets whiny and a little growly. Don't mess with my dinner she says, they are getting really fattened up for her! ;)

Apparently hanging out with Chazzers turns Squash into some kind of uber-focused Rally superstar. Let's arrange the next meetup before our next trial.

That sounds like fun! I know how you feel, I get nervous with new things too, especially with Art's reactivity issues. BUT! I almost never regret going! Especially if I can get myself to relax and just deal with what comes.

Good luck, I hope you have fun! :)

I think I'm going to get a urine sample from Abrams and see if he has a UTI...yes, he may just be being a puppy, but my GOD. None of my other puppies were like this. None. He acts like he can't control his bladder and that he constantly has to pee. Then when he does go outside, he often pees multiple times, or will squat and "pee" with nothing coming out.

I just need to rule out something medically, so then I can be 100% sure it is just puppy-ness. Because if I can fix it medically, that would be GREAT. Otherwise, I am probably going to go crazy before all of this is over.

Oh my goodness, that would be so frustrating. I would have killed the puppy already J/K. Hopefully it comes up as a UTI and its something you can work with and fix.

*sarcasm Starts* Let's tell someone who wants a boxer pup that they should get a Cane corso because you know they are pretty much the same breed. They look exactly the same, oh and didn't you know that they are pretty much the same f****** size. Oh and the temperament of the Cane Corso is all how you raise them. *sarcasm Ends*

Yah, I'm all for him just being a puppy, and I understand that he is just now five months old...but he is literally asking to go out to pee every 15-20 minutes. I've timed it. Sometimes it is as frequent as 10 minutes. And when he goes out, he pees. Sometimes he can't even make it off the porch before the flood gates open. And if I don't let him out when he asks to try to make him "hold it" and learn some control, he'll keep going to the door and eventually just leak urine. He'll get this, "Oh, CRAP" look on his face so I know he knows he isn't supposed to be peeing in the house, it is literally like he has no control over it.

Driving. Me. INSANE. You can't get ANYTHING done when you have to stop what you're doing every 15 minutes to take a dog out to pee. Thank God I have a yard and can just let him out and that I'm not in a traditional apartment or he'd be peeing EVERYWHERE. When I have him at work, he'll come out of his kennel and start whizzing before we even make it to the door.

I would take that over what Hazard does. He'll take a break halfway through guzzling water, or eating, to pee. And then carries on.

Dear Mr. Random Worker who is Presumably Part of the Effort to Prepare the Foreclosed House Next Door to be Put Back on the Market: Yes, that giant hackles-up white roaring thing IS my dog. So is the fuzzy black and white machine gun-barking thing and the black and brindle woo-wooing thing. Let's just keep that in the back of our minds. While I don't truly think you have any ill intent, I am home alone today and you are working alone completely unsupervised, and I watch a lot of Dateline sooooo... you know, paranoid thoughts sneak in here and there. And it suits me that they at least look and sound intimidating to you, even though none of them really are.

Dear Dogs: It really is ok, Mr. Random Worker who is Presumably Part of the Effort to Prepare the Foreclosed House Next Door to be Put Back on the Market is allowed to be working in the yard next door (I think). But in case it wasn't clear, I lurve you, you good dogs. Squash, I especially love your transformation back into a gigantic marshmallowy doofus as soon as I tell you "it's ok," even though I never really purposefully tried to teach you that.

Put Smiley's food for today in the fridge to thaw overnight last night. Look in the fridge this morning, can't find it anywhere. Check the counters, nowhere. Check the freezer...I guess I put it back in the freezer instead of the fridge! Doh!

Haven't you said he's fine for multiple hours in his crate? It would be weird for there to be a UTI... that's only there when he's not in his crate, if so.

I am so proud of Panzer. I am trying to get him to sleep on the floor, because he is just too big to sleep on the bed with us now. And he has easily accepted sleeping on the floor with little fuss. Last night was the first full night of sleeping on the floor on his bed right beside my bed and he woke up a few times and went to Tylers side of the bed and cried a little bit to be let up, but I just re-directed him back onto his bed and game his lots of cookies and he went right back to sleep. I love this puppy. He makes me look so good.

But I am bad as I do let him back up on the bed once Tyler leaves for work early in the morning. He is super cuddly, plus there is more room on our bed :)

When Auggie has a super bad UTI he might pee in the house, but never in his crate.

Squatting and no pee coming out is reason for alarm blackrose. Definitely do a free catch and see if he's got a UTI.

Feeling 'meh' about this weekend. Doing 3 days of a 5 day conformation show series.. I want to get another group win on my girl. Found out today there are a lot of 'heavy hitters' in terms of Whippet handlers.. so I'm not feeling particularly optimistic right now. Yay wasted money.. I'd rather go to agility class.. or coursing. Coursing was this weekend, too. Missing that. :(

Who knows, stranger things have happened.

I'm trying to pick out some rally trials for the fall, and I'm averse to signing up for advanced. Maybe I'll just hang out in Novice B for awhile.

He's never had an accident in his crate, but he has NEVER had an accident in his crate. Even when he was a young puppy and I had to leave him for 10 hours one evening, he made NO mess. I'm actually worried that the long periods he's had to "hold it" in the crate may have caused a UTI. He's always been PU/PD (he's a puppy, what can I say), but the fact that it is getting "worse" and not "better"...makes me very cautious.

And yes, Beanie, it was when I saw him doing the multiple squat and/or multiple squat with no urine production that I decided to check him out. Picked up a sterile urine cup from work today and I'm going to catch that first morning pee tomorrow!
