I'm kinda worried family is just going to show up with a labradoodle for me. It just keeps bringing it up. I have explained to them I do not want. If they bring me a labradoodle on my birthday I will flip my lid.
Send it to me if they do? :p
(Seriously, though, who gifts a dog to someone when they've said they don't want it?)

You need to just tell them "oh yeah I put down a deposit on like five sheltie puppies. Yeah I got a deal if I bought the whole litter so I TOTALLY DID."

That..would make sense considering the conversation they had with you the other day. :p Good luck with that!
Oh yeah. They even let me know I could get one for free from their friend!

Ugh. I know they mean well, honestly. They feel bad I can't do agility with Mia and know I'm looking for another dog soon. But no, free labradoodle from probably puppy mill is totally not going to fix things.

Hopefully they have enough common sense to just not... I hope. I really hope.

So... I stumbled upon Cajun's breeder's newly created Facebook page. Which at first I was like ugh no, do I even wanna look, it's been 2 months since we gave her back and I've kind of moved on from it. But there are a couple pictures of Cajun up and I have to say I did breathe a little sigh of relief. I didn't really know what we were giving her back to, but in these pictures she's wearing pajamas and hanging out in the house, and there are pictures of the other dogs cleaning off the dinner plates and lying on the couch....

Maybe it really was for the best and she is happier there.

Dear Ezra - THANK YOU for being the best stripy boy ever and insistently waking me up at 7am to let me know you needed to go out. Liver diarrhea was not on my 'list of things to clean' today. <3

Roxie's rabies tag fell off last night. My dad is awesome, so I'm sure he will figure out a solution, but geez. And THIS is why they should use nice metal on those tags, because 3 years is quite a while and active dogs kill crappy metal tags. The top part of the little hole wore right off and I guess it just gave up last night.

Roxie is not due for her shot in like a month or two, so I guess I'm going to have to grab a replacement tag when I get back to the other house (am at the new house). But today we are going hiking, so this kinda sucks. I mean, of all tags to fall off, this is the probably the most important.

Does Animal control in your area/law enforcement check for tags often? I've lived in the city for years and have never been troubled for not tagging my dogs (I never do) but I do keep the tags on a key ring with me when we're out, and proof of rabies stays in the car, just in case. Depending on your reason for worry, you could keep proof with you at least!

In a lot of jurisdictions, the paper certificate is actually the legal proof rather than the tag. If you still have that somewhere handy you could just carry it with you if replacing the tag is inconvenient.

Yeah, they check. Out walking and tags not ON collar, and they can pull you over. I'm not sure how it is in this new town, but especially when we are out hiking, I need rabies on her collar if she gets lost some how. I mean, the ice age trail goes everywhere, so she could go clear to Minnesota if she stays on it.

I do have all of Roxie's documents in a folder in a cabinet. I'll probably need the proof of rabies to get a spare tag (doesn't cost anything). For today, my dad is just going to drill another hole in the tag. When I get to the old house, the vet is within walking distance. That's not an issue... I'm just annoyed that they use crappy metal for such an important tag.

This is how it is here, all Owners need is the paperwork that shows they are UTD, but individual cities have different laws

People on amazon who call you inept and your dog dominant after reading a post you made a few years ago for training equipment. In this case, a 20ft long line.

Yes. I am so inept about my dominant dog, that I am going to use this piece of equipment to train recall, and that is pitiful and a danger to the public. Why is it a danger to the public? Because obviously a dog on a long line doesn't know how to heel!! Did you know?

Also, Roxie, dominant? Roxie?!

Uh oh, then I am doomed because I play tug, let my dogs go through doors and gates before me, and otherwise let them be themselves.

My dogs will be taking over my finances soon.

edit: Oh wait! I also give them raw bones and other raw meats as treats, thus ensuring they will develop a taste for flesh and eventually eat me alive as I sleep:rofl1:

Second day or Reactive dog 2 class for Talon, didn't go so well.

The good new is he really could care less about the other dogs at this point. We played a version of "monkey in the middle" with Talon in the middle of the field, and a dog on either side walking towards him. They would either turn around if he started looking uncomfortable at all or go past if he was fine. Well, he was absolutely fine. They walked right by without him giving more than a casual glance. So, why did class go so bd today?

His nose was to the ground almost the entire time! My dog who normally has his eyes glued on me would not get his nose off the ground. Argh! I know why, one lady with a whippet had REALLY smelly good treats and threw them on the ground to give to her dog. It was just really frustrating as this was not how he normally does things. :(

Control your dog. Your dog tried to kill a pet Rabbit, & then you don't even do anything? You just make a joke out of it. Then you dog tries to again. Luckily it was out of reach, but still. You made no attempt at all do anything.

Then I feel guilty because I could of stopped the dog,I tried to grab the dogs collar, but I couldn't. I just feel really guilty,& embarrassed because I could of done more, or did something earlier.

*hugs*

Elsie has a really nice heel. The last trial we were at, her nose was on the ground the whole time--she was stressed out because there were so many dogs barking, and instead of looking at them, she was sniffing. Maybe Talon was more stressed than he seemed?

I didn't want to make a new thread, but does anyone know what size chuck it will work with a kong squeeze ball? I think the ball is small sized ( it's like a 3in ball), but idk...

*does quick math in head* "This PVC will make three jumps!"

Reality: PVC makes one jump.

Also...PVC is cheap, until you start buying a ton of it. Per my instructor I will need 5-6 jumps for the stuff we are starting at my next lesson. Which means I need to order more jump cups, more 4 ways, and much more PVC.

Thank goodness I should be graduated and making actual money by the time we start actively competing.

Dude on dating website 'liked' me. He has a GSP and a Plott and is apparently a vet. He's also 11 years older... :/ Is it bad that I'm thinking about how crazy a house of 5 dogs would be?
