Does anyone know the difference between the Canon SD940IS and SD960IS? They're priced $219 & $199.99 respecitively on Amazon.com. The little difference in prices does not matter. However, I always thought that the bigger number (960) is normally the later (improved) version over the last one.. so the cheaper in price kinda throw me off a little bit.

I need to get a decent p&s camera before my daughter is born, and is kind of lost.. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks! Theresa

Just looked it up, it appears the 940 (announced aug 09, 960 was feb) is the newer model and the specs are almost exact. Seems odd that they would replace it so quickly with such a similar model.

Just throwing this out there but if you are spending the money now anyway, for not much more (like maybe 30 dollars) you could upgrade to an advanced point and shoot and getting better zoom, better picture quality for not much more money.

Which "advanced p&s" are you talking about? I'm totally inept when it comes to cameras. My old one was the cheap 5MP Olympus C50, which I had for 7 years until it broke last year! Since then, I haven't had times to research into a replacement, until now that it's urgently NEEDED!!! Oh well, I can always borrow my dad's (he has a 7MP something), but I do want to own a camera now that I'm about to have the most wonderful subject & tons of opportunity to take pictures. I do not want to miss those special moments just because I don't have a camera

Well I didnt mean a specific one, just wondered if you had looked into them, I am loving having the extra zoom capabilities.

but the one I recently purchased is this one:

Sony DSC-H20/B 10.1MP Digital Camera - Black

^^this is actually the place I got it from too, the service was soo quick and it was the best price I had found.
