Ronin and Ilsa went to the dog park today to test their skidboots. I only had to adjust them once, as they slid down a little bit. But overall, they are very nice and snug, and they didn't break - they're muddy and the little painted-on Z's started to come off, but I don't mind that.

I apologize for the photo quality - I haven't seen this much sunlight for close to four months, and I need to readjust my camera settings to handle sunlight again! Also just realized my mom double-filtered my lens this past weekend... no wonder everything was turning out funky!

Initial liftoff...

"I feel like a race horsie!"

Ronin goes airborn...

"Throwdaball!"

Ilsa flies...

"You talkin' to ME?"

Ronin... just happy.

I like this one, not sure why... maybe because it shows his depth of muzzle...

Every time you post I get Dober-envy, lol. Those skidboots are awesome! Where did you get them from? Strider is always getting skin tears on his wrists.

Romy - the link to the maker is in the first post... I think. If now, just Google "Z-Control Skid Boots".

Lizmo - skidboots protect the stop pads from injury. They also keep dewclaws safe from getting torn in the brush, as well as help stabilize weak pasterns if need be. They have lots of uses... I use mine to prevent bloody stop pads!

I know this may be a silly question (but I cannot tell how thick they are), do these skidboots, by chance, help absorb some of the shock from when they stop real fast?

Ella has this issue when we play with her flirtpole in the basement. She runs fast to catch it and then stops to jump, but she sometimes torques her front right leg. Nothing is wrong with her leg (we had the vet check) and it isn't constant. It just happens sometimes when she plays and goes to stop or stop and twist to go in the other direction.

I don't think so Rebecca. However, they do seem to strengthen the pastern joint, since they're fairly tight neoprene. They hold that joint together in a way, so they don't hyperextend.
