Any guesses? I know what he is labelled as and I know what his mother SUPPOSEDLY was. So what do you think? This is Leo, he is at the rescue I am doing my job shadow at and he is awesome. I love this dog so much. He is at risk of being euthanized because we was adopted out and bit about 5 different people, all people in uniform... and some random kid. But he is wonderful with everyone who comes into the rescue and he is great with the kids who pet and play with him.

Golden something?? Not sure what's giving the brindle. Parts of him look Chow-ish, parts look Golden and the coat is really throwing me off. I'd say Boxer but nothing else on him looks Boxer-ish.

I'd say they have a classic Heinz 57 on their hands ;)

But I guess you have to look at what's popular in your area, that could give you a hint. He's a very pretty dog, though, and I hope he can get to a behaviorist and find a good home!

Also, How much does he weigh? And if you can tell, what sort of breed does he act like? Herder, guarder, etc.?

well, he is stubborn and likes to chase after cats, he is extremely playful with other animals, almost to the point where is is just too much for them.

ok they have him labelled as an aussie mix. Supposedly his mother was a Lowchen, but those are rather rare so I don't know if that is a fact or what some confused person thought their dog was....

Looks like some kind of Aussie mix to me but it's hard to tell how big he is. What does he weigh and how tall is he?

He looks awful big in some of those photos for his mom to be a Lowchen. Maybe his dad was a larger breed, but I'd be surprised if his mom survived the pregnancy/whelping if she bred with something big enough to produce him.

The brindle can be a surprise sometimes. I saw a litter of pups that were from an accidentally breeding between a Kuvasz and a Malinois. The entire litter was brindle. I guess that's not uncommon with Kuvasz mixes, the solid white masks other color patterns??

You are all wrong. Obviously he is a pit mix, as everybody knows only pits are brindle. :p At least that's what our local shelter would say.

In all honesty, I think there are more than two breeds at work here. One or both parents were probably pretty mixed up.

I did meet a family giving away some 10 month old puppies that they had accidentally bred. The mother was a small yellow dog mix, maybe about 25-30 lbs. The father was an Akita/Chow/Corgi mix, and he was maybe about 45. The puppies (they had 4) ranged in size from about 25 lbs to 85 lbs. It seems that sometimes if the parents are mixes, even if they are small themselves they may produce big puppies together if they have large breed ancestors.

Last week we were out driving around and went to this fishing beach along the bay. There was a guy there who had a dog that looked real close to this one. It was more of a merle coloring but if you substituted the merle for the brindle, they'd look like siblings. That dog was a lab/aussie mix.
