hm...perhaps I should get Ella some sunscreen for the summer. We're going to be out a lot...and her skin IS bad...

What kind of sunscreen would be gentle enough? She has extremely sensitive skin.

There are some made for dogs, I can't for the life of me remember the brand my friend uses. It seems mild, if I remember I will ask her and PM you.

i just put regular old sunscreen on Milo when he was a baby and his pink skin showed right through his thin fur...good old days. I think they make sunscreen for babies...maybe try that?

well, the more I read about using sunscreen for dogs, the more I'm finding out that the dogs that need it are the light coated, fair skinned dogs with pink noses.

Ella is neither of those. BUT she has a very thin coat in spots (like her belly and insides of her legs). I just figured with her recent mast cell tumor, that her skin could probably use extra protection from the sun.

Thinks it's necessary for her?

If she has a really thin coat i would put sunscreen on her if she is going ot be outforalong period of time. For the girls when they were hairless from allergies we just used sunscreen made for infants and it seemed to work great! Thankfully we resolved there allergies so they no longer need sunscreen due to mice coats.

I use baby sunscreen on the scar on Joey's back. It seem to work well. If her coat is really thin I'd give it a try.
