Yesterday Max was barking so loud and standing up against the sliding glass door, almost to the top. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I looked out to see behind our fence was a basset hound that must have gotten loose from a neighbor. The basset hound noticed Max, had a look of fear on his face, and ran back home. Once out of sight, I let Max out because he would have taken down the sliding door otherwise. Max went crazy! He barked, howled, ran up & down the fence looking for the dog. The one thing the basset hound didn't realize is that Max wants to play! He wants to play with every dog that he sees. I wish Max sensed when another dog was nasty because Max doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He thinks everyone wants to be his friend. I wish I could have had a camera at hand because the basset hound's ears were flopping in the air as it ran through the snow back home. They are cute dogs. Needless to say, Max didn't come in for a long time. He actually laid down in the snow at the corner of the yard smelling where the other dog walked and just waiting for his new friend to come back which he never did.

This is how tall Max is:

max and Victor should get together..all he wants to do is play as well..that is why i don't want the dog up the street (by the way i have taken it home two more times and woman won't come to the door) to ruin his good disposition. MAx is a beauty!

LOL! Barb - Max reminds me so much of Brady in that position. Brady does that same thing, and their personalities seem so similar. Brady is the same way with dogs, he wants to play with everyone and he wants to meet every one. I bet they would get along great!

He's a pretty boy. Last Friday the neighbor's Chow/Lab/Shar Pei mix escaped (they chain it when it's outside) but it freaked out and ran away because of Tippy. She scared that dog horibbly bad.

Max is an Anatolian Shepherd. He's 29 months old, 34" at the withers, and 110 lbs. He will fully mature at about 3-4 years of age. Most Anatolians are fawn with a black mask and short hair. They do come in several colors which confuses some people because they don't all look alike (long or short hair, mask or no mask, several hair colors).
