There's been a stray dog that has been running around a certain area since January. He was first seen with a catch release around him he was fortunately able to get it off. There was a whole bunch of people trying to catch him so I didn't pay attention to the posts on Facebook rescues also said for everyone to back off the dog because they are working on it. February I saw him in another post so I then was bound and determined to find this dog and work with him and make him part of my family.

March 27th I got an email at 11:11 in the morning from a girl saying she saw my post and the dog is in her next-door neighbor's front yard so I immediately went over there. Since then I've been working with the dog trying to get him to trust me, showing him that I mean no harm to him. It's going to take a lot of time patience with him I understand that but a couple of the neighbors do not. They want to call Animal Control.

I need advice. He does not like leashes or hands. I'll put some chicken down on the ground and have my hand right next to it so he would have to eat the chicken with my hand right there and he looks and gives this look like "yea riiiight lady!" He eventually ate the chicken or touched my hand a few times I swear my hand didn't bite him he was okay. LOL

He doesn't like leashes at all so I actually had sat the leash down and made a circle and put a treat in the middle, he actually stepped inside the circle and ate the treat.

Can someone please give me advice on what I need to do or should do. I'm trying to do all that I can for him. We actually do have somewhat of a bond other than food. Right when some idiot neighbor pulled up the dog automatically ran down the street a little ways I guess that neighbor had been pissed off at that dog because it's been around for a week. I just need some advice please I know Animal Control cannot catch him and I don't want them to I've been working with him and I'm close to rescuing him.

I think it is wonderful that you want to save this dog! Since it is out in the open though it sounds like catching him might be too difficult to handle on your own, and every day he is out on his own he is at risk... maybe see if you can get a rescue group to have some people help you out?

May I agree with you, my advice is that you should train him with 1-2 months of love, otherwise you should talk to the rescue team.
