store bought raw meals

At the petstore that I go to they sell already prepared raw meals (I'm pretty sure that it's the meals) and bones. Are these good for the dogs or is just preparing them yourselves better? I thought about buying some for Hannah to feed with her Evo but didn't know if it was worth it to buy it or not.

What kind are they? Are they just the meat and bone ground together or are they like the Nature's Variety raw, frozen patties?

I'm not sure we didn't really look at them. I know they have just the plain raw meaty bones but I think the raw meals are like meat and bone together. I didn't really look at them but would be out that way tomorrow and thought about looking into them for Hannah to supplement the Evo because I know she LOVES the raw meaty bones when we give her those, and oxtail too.

Loppi was on a prepared raw diet before. The meat and bones were all grounded up. I don't think I will ever put her through something like that again, simply because it really ruined her teeth - no chewing on the bones, just swallowing everything grounded together. Perhaps others have had different outcomes with these but it certainly has not worked for me so far.

There is a company that I get my raw meaty bones pre packed from,this is grounded down, it is human grade meat with no addative, the animal is killied one day minced and frozen the same day and then delivered so really fresh, I give this to my dogs, but I also ensure they have larger bones to knaw on for their teeth, I also give them fragaria to keep their teeth clean this prevents tartar bulding up, what you need to check is the water content in some of these pre prepared raw foods some can be very watery once defrosted, also I would not give raw meat at the same time as a dry kibble both of these foods digest at different rates and cause a build up of gas in the dogs stomach which may result in bloat.

It depends on the individual diet, some are good, others are okay. They're also not going to cause dental problems if you continue to feed recreational bones for dental health.

I guess the "better than nothing" rule applies but...I have yet to find a premade raw that would suit my personal requirements, dental problems aside. The best raw patty I've found so far would be Nature's Variety, which claims 95% meat and bone and 5% veggies. My problem with NV is that they will not tell you what the bone/meat ratio is out of the 95%. Feel free to call them and ask, but they're not allowed to disclose that information.

Most of these patties do have a very high bone content. They're also expensive if you're feeding more than one little dog. I prefer to be much more in control of my dog's diet.

Also, I don't like to give my dogs big bones to chew on. Most of these bones you find in the grocery store are big bones from large herbivores, and can break teeth.

I prefer to "make" my own..though i really dont consider reaching in the freezer and throwing meat to my dogs "making" anything
