Standard Poodles

I have allways liked the breed and I undertand what they are like temperment wise. Structurly a dobe with hair so i have been told. I am looking at getting one in about 5 years but i have a question. if i do get one i would show/special it. can someone tell me their weekly grooming schedual for a puppy and adult as well as show grooming schedual? i know its ALOT but i want to know exactly before i go any further. ie helping out a poodle handler. thanx

I've never had one for show, and only had some Std Poodles as fosters. I just wanted to say good luck, it's something I've always wanted to do, show one that is. Grooming one as a pet is a big job so I can imagine that keeping one in a show coat would be quite the challenge. And I suppose, the color would also play a factor. White Spoos would probably be much more work.

And as for the std poodle being structured like a dobe, I've heard that before. I remember someone commenting that a Std Poodle was like a Dobe in drags, I thought that was a hoot! lol

Dunno anything about grooming but they're an awesome breed.
