my mother told me this story this morning...
last night Mr Shaffer came into her room tried to curl his boney self on the hard wood floor..tossed and turned and then left only to return an hour later..and then again after that. He finally came up to her bed and bumped her softly with his nose. She thought oh no..i hope he doesn't have to go out because he doesn't like to come right back in and it was late..plus she has a virus and doesn't feel well at all..so she got up to see open the door for him when she discovered that old Trudy was sound asleep in the middle of Mr. Shaffer's bed. Trudy is deaf and so old that now she sleeps very sound. Mom said the whole time she tried to rouse Trudy up..,Mr. Shaffer stood beside her yawning..then when his bed was finally cleared he plunked himself right down. Just thought i would share a Shaffer story. He could have snuck up on the sofa..or booted old Trudy out, but he is a gentleman.
the pic is Trudy in her younger days..i got her from the shelter..last day..last hour. She has lived with mom for more then a decade now.

her eyes are dark..she is the most alert looking dog i have ever seen..she is still pretty perky..i posted a few days ago about her running after Vic and Shaff..she still likes to join in. Unfortunately Victor accidently knocked her off her feet this morning..i felt bad. She didn't hear him coming up on her and didn't move out of the way in time. When we come in the door it is all pretty chaotic until the boys are shoved out the back for their big romp. I don't know how i would manage Victor if he didn't have a few hours for a good run each day..Mr SHaffer has made it much much more fun. Mary is trying to lounge around inside now but since she has started to gain again i push her out right with them..(u should see the look i get..plllleeeease don't make me go.)

Oh, I love that story. He sounds really empathetic and caring. It's amazing. He knows she's old and is being so respectful. LOL....too cute. What nice dogs you have.

What a sweet guy! :) Our Holly is so sweet with Lucy (our blind dog) too, and always wants to make sure Lucy "helps" bring the ball or frisbee back "with" her, by picking them up and shoving them at Lucy until she gets a hold of it too, and then they both run together to bring it back to me! :)
