The temperature in the sun today hit 105, and Bonnie wanted to cool off.

She's been getting better with water, but only to paddle, and still nervous of waves.

Down by the lake today, she just jumped right in and started doggy-paddling beside me as I walked along the bank, looking most relaxed, for no reason other than cooling off and having fun -- and then insisted on a game of fetching sticks from further and further out into the lake!

I was amazed - she could not (or hadn't at least) swum before this - so she gets a new 'soggy doggy' summer avatar and signature movie!

Anyone else got a swimmer ??

Here I come!

I've got a little swimmer and I love it . It gives me more options with "how do I get Sunny to wear himself out today?" :D It wears him out about 2x faster then walking too. Good girl Bonny, she looks so cute and happy there. The #1 downside I see is the wet doggy smell, but hey, a small price to pay for a contented pooch.

Does Bonnie ever do anything that ISN'T adorable? :D

I'm trying to find a way to transport wet dogs so I can take the grrrrrls - and Bimmer - down to the lake or up to the mountains to let them get in the water. I'd love to find a stream with fish to see if they'll catch fish. If Shiva figures out they're good to eat I KNOW she'll fish, lol!

LOL! Getting the grrrrrls - and Bimmer for that matter - in a strange vehicle with strange people could result in a 911 call! Sometimes it can take a turn in that direction under normal (?) circumstances  I keep telling Charley we need a top for the back of the Toyota pickup for just that sort of thing. Or an old VW Thing!

I got swimmers....once when Victor saw a seagull (a funny thing to see in Missouri) we didn't think he was ever going to give up! He never even stopped to consider it was water under his feet..running on either surface is groovy with him.
I am glad Bonnie has decided to become a wet pet..she will have soooooo much more fun when it is hot now..GO BONNIE!
i almost forgot..i dont know if you can order them online or not but i have two neat sheets..they feel like fabric but are waterproof and a total blessing for the car seats...GLAD makes them i think..I adore your movie :D :D :D

The girls love swimming. Once we brought them down to the doggie beach and they all had a blast swimming, though Tippy needed a little encouragement before she got in the water.

She should get royalties ..my friend Kelly just got her coonhound Charlie to be a water dog. She is so excited for she never had a water dog before. It brings a whole new demension to play..they can cool off and then play on land twice as hard.

I don't think Charlie would be a good swimmer...he hates baths and jumps out of the tub thing every time. He will even avoid puddles. He drinks out of them though. :D

I got the dogs a kiddie pool. Mainly hoping Princess would jump in it to cool off, instead she only jumps acrossed it! But Gracie loves it. She will play chase with Princess and then jump in the pool to cool off, its her little safe place because she acts like she knows Princess cant get her when she's in the pool. Wonder how she'd do at a lake.

Tippy hates baths too. We hd her on a leash and brought her out into the water, swimming with her, and she seemed to like it after that.

My Bear HATED baths. He'd stand there and look at me reproachfully throughout the whole ordeal . . . BUT he'd head for the water if we were anywhere near a lake, river or creek, and he loved to lay in the wading pool I kept in the yard for the dogs. Go figure

Bonnie's the same - she's only had a couple of baths and DID NOT LIKE, and more than that hadn't ever done anything but paddle at this lake before. But it was hot and there she went, and now she's an addict! Luckily its very clean fresh water and doesn't seem to make her smell too bad, and its so hot right now she's dry after a short walk home - of course after she's shaken her wet fur right next to me several times :) I've just got her a cheapo kiddy pool for the yard which she can try for wallowing in the next few days...

typical Bonnie - a couple of days back I set up the kiddie pool and show her how to get in -- what a face, how reluctant!!!
...anyway...
another hot day today -- no one around, let her run the last part home (we're VERY rural)...
into the porch? --- NO --- straight into the pool for a good old wallow !

Hey Renee
Does Bonnie ever do anything that ISN'T adorable? :D
She MUST, I just haven't caught her yet :) - although I wish she could do something about shedding hair in this heat - LOL !!!
