thats deifnatly interesting...
and makes some sense
though depist it all for me its still incredibly hard to belive that the chihuahua...comes from a wolf lol

even more so i have a hard time looking at my little nekkid man and thinking wolf LOL!

Interesting. But I wonder if small scavanger dogs did well in a certain place in a certain time because they require less food than a larger dog. When food is scarce, leftovers are scarce.

eh.... there's a few things I don't buy there.

First, I'm not on the whole "dogs are from wolves bandwagon." I more think they evolved from a common ancestor.

There are many different reasons why the grey wolf in the middle east may share a similiar gene.... so that doesn't mean that small dogs came from them...

IF what I read was correct both cats and dogs originated from the same creature.

Yeah, this popped out at me when I read the article too.

I'd be interested, though, to see if they can find the gene in any other canids.
