Last fall I went camping with my family in arkanses.... Well a few days into our camping trip I decided to try and camp out under the stars in a hammock with my dog.. SO I did..... Lovie laid on my stomach and soon we were both making ZZZZ well I woke up cuz my legs lost circulation so I decided to throw my sleeping bag on the ground and sleep there. So I set up my sleeping bag and Love climbed in and laid at my feet at the bottom of the bag. Well I fell asleep and in the early parts of the morning I felt a digging at my feet I (Im half asleep_ said Love quit it... It kept digging... Then I came to realize Love was laying against my side.... I froze .... dumb thing to do..... Love shot up and started barking. I hear a grunting noice and then my dog attacked it I see a blur of my dogs goldish whit in the dark along with a flash of white....
the skunk broke free and sprayed her.... yuck..... Dumb me I put her in my tent and she rolled over everything in their ... I slept with my poochie to as not wake my family.... for the following 5 days I was known to the ppl in the camp ground as the girl the skunk tried to sleep with
we found somthing better than tomatoe soup that day... It really worked to!!!

lol If ever your dog gets sprayed by a skunk hose it off

mix together

1/4 c bottle of peroxide
1/4 c box baking soda
2 tbs of dawn

When it foams apply it to your dog (not near eyes or mouth)
cover it and let it sit for10-15 min rinse off repeat if necissary.

If its a large dog you may have to double or triple that recipe.

One soaking in it and no smell... exept if she got wet but then it was very mild.

we got this recipe from a store clerk outside the park (we went to buy tomatoe soup) he gave us this recipe we tried it and it work... only problem was Love got hit dead on in the face...took care ful washing...
mandie!

There is nothing worse than the smell of skunk... peewww. I remember one night several years ago, letting my dogs out to go pee. At that time I had 3 rottweilers and a pug. I remember hearing a bit of commotion outside but never gave it a second thought because within a few minuts the dogs finished with their business and were at the door to come back in.

Well, it wasn't until that next morning that I saw exactly what their business included. While they were out relieving themselves... one of the bigger dogs must have cornered a skunk and attacked it and must have killed it instantly because the skunk NEVER sprayed. It had to be pretty sudden because the skunk.......... oh nevermind this part... let's just say it was gross. But I know it was instant death just by the condition of the skunk when we found it that morning.

I've never heard of a dog getting into a tangle with a skunk and not getting sprayed. But I sure was thankful... ewww the thought of skunk smell on one of my dogs.

I'm glad that recipe worked for your dog. I'm sure your dog felt better when the smell was gone as much as you probably did.

Heheheh . . . You and Lovie needed Shiva. She's developed a technique for killing them and eating them without getting sprayed

Had the same experience with my Husky, Misty. Her and Princess, my Silky Terrier cornered one on our deck, and killed it. I was so afraid they were going to get sprayed by it, or else get rabies from it, but they were fine...by that I mean the dogs....the skunk wasn't in the best shape in the morning....:p
