So while Wash is more than willing to try this, he just flops over every time.

I do get a good laugh at watching him... but I'd like him to actually be able to maintain the position.

Is there anything I can do to help him find his balance? or shall I just continue to have a dog that mimics one of those inflate punching clowns until he gets it on his own?

Does he flop over backwards? Have you tried getting him to sit pretty with something behind him to lean on until his back muscles and balance improve?

He flops backwards, sideways, you name it. His face is so glued to mine that he seems to not be paying attention to what he's doing at all.

I haven't tried with him up next to something though... I will give that a try tonight and see how it goes. :)

:lol-sign: While you're at it, grab a camera and get us a video! I'm sure we could all use a good laugh.

Yes a video would be great! Try doing it from a sit and keeping his bum on the ground.

No advice other than, please get pictures :D Xena didn't have this issue, but she's got really long and strong legs, so it's quite a good base for her to set on. She actually took to this one very quickly and it's now her "go to move" when she's looking to get treated :rofl1:

I've been starting him from a sit... but we will see if a wall helps at all.

And I will see about getting a video. :)

Tempie agrees with Xena. "Sit Pretty" never fails to bring in lots of treats.

Or money, should the situation call for it.

Yes, using a corner/walls helps, you can also help him build core ab. muscles and therefore balance by having him go from a sit to standing up on his hind legs back to a sit once he understands and has control.
