Having seen a pic of what is apparently the crime scene as well as a pic of the victim...I don't think anyone would look at that and then calmly look at happy rainbow ways to get the perpetrator to come quietly with you. Ick. Times 50.

Not saying Ive done any of these but, PCP>LSD>Cocaine>Pot.
"!=" is "does not equal," not "greater than," but just for the sake of argument, cocaine > LSD in terms of obsessive, self-destructive addiction and risk of death. As far as I'm aware, there has never been a documented, confirmed case of LSD overdose, and the drug typically does not cause lasting side effects nor dependency.

Salvia is something I have never tried but the videos Ive seen I would never try it, evar.
It's fairly harmless, all things considered.

Not saying Ive done both both but I disagree with you.

I dont want to find out. You want to be a salvia expert, :D.

Whether or not you've "done both," find me any legitimate study of the long-lasting effects or addictive properties of LSD. Find me a legitimate, confirmed case of LSD overdose. People don't sell every possession they own, including their own bodies, along with half of what their neighbor owns, because they "need" LSD. That would be cocaine's claim to fame. LSD isn't physically addictive and doesn't produce the same affects that cause opiates to become psychologically addictive. On the other hand, cocaine is harmful to everyone around it (go spend a day in any town with high burglary and violent crime rates...most of that is directly tied to cocaine), so color me confused as to where you're drawing the conclusion you came to.

I dont want to find out. You want to be a salvia expert, :D.
Sure, why not? Better to be educated about something than parrot nonsense. Salvia is as inherently harmless as most other low-toxicity, non-addictive, recreational hallucinogenics. The most potent salvia lasts all of a few minutes. In relation to the OP...the most common outward effect of salvia is laughter...not cannibalizing some poor SOB's face.

There is a lot to factor in when thinking about 'dangerousness' of drugs. I don't think its that cut and dry at ALL.

I've seen people psychotic off pot, and happy and cool off coke.... It really is not black and white.

Assuming the information in the article is accurate . . . sign me up for the "I don't blame the cop" group.

Anyone eating another person's face is by definition completely off their nut. I can't even think of a situation where this would occur that does not involve someone so wildly psychotic that there is simply no telling what they will do. Moreover, they were already actively assaulting someone else in a particularly brutal way, and someone was already shouting over a loudspeaker for him to stop.

Not to mention that if the cop simply freaked out . . . under the circumstances, I don't blame him either.

:lol-sign: "Synthetic marijuana"...

It's synthetic cocaine that is sometimes being passed off as "bath salts." Cocaine doesn't "make people nuts" in that way. Neither does LSD (another drug being "name-dropped" by the media in reference to this case). If there were drugs involved at all, my money would be on PCP.

PCP != Cocaine != LSD != Pot. Not all drugs are created equally, illegal or otherwise.
Hmmm. Don't know where you have been but there are several synthetic marijuanas that were legal for a long time( here at least)And still available. Don't know if your trying to look big and street but I deal with the people that come in on it. I don like any drugs but the synthetic make people so much more psychotic.

Have you ever seen anyone on bath salts?! One that has to go to the Er?

If you really don't know about it google "spice" "legal devil".

And LSD will make people hallucinate so it would make people do that. Voices telling you to eat someone's face, maybe he saw he was in zombie world.

Bath salts are one hell of a drug. o__o

The worst part is that once the media attention dies down, it's unlikely that the victim would receive the continuing care he would need. I've seen the hospital photo... there is no face left. A single eyeball and a chin. That's it. Dude would need a full facial transplant and continued therapy for a prolonged period to have any hope of a decent recovery. I would have no doubt that he's currently praying for death. :(

Patient zero!

I never said they didn't exist. I was laughing at the misinformation being spread, "bath salts" being a name for "synthetic marijuana." There's a whole lot of misinformation in this thread... People like to scare-monger.

Don't know if your trying to look big and street
:rofl1: Yes, of course I am.

I've seen people on a whole hell of a lot of stupid things.

Are you trying to look "big" and "street?" No... You perceive reality differently, but LSD doesn't magically zip you into another world where you become a cannibalistic zombie. Been playing one too many video games lately?

No, it's not quite that black and white, but "as a general rule" we can safely assume that most...nearly all...pot that isn't laced with something (which is rare unto itself, but I digress) isn't going to cause someone to have a psychotic meltdown. So "as a general rule" cocaine is more dangerous than LSD to an individual user, but I wasn't only referring to the user themselves when speaking of the dangerousness of a drug. Like I said, spend a day in any town or neighborhood known for high violent crime rates and get an actual look at what's fueling it.

Interesting observation.

Memphis is extremely high crime, one of the murder capitals at some point (not sure if they still hold the title) and while they have a bit of cocaine, LSD, and prescription drugs, the majority of the lower class (which is the majority of the city) is really only on pot from what I gather. And there's plenty of stories floating around of friends, friends of friends, family, so on - people to get completely trashed from it psychologically. Maybe it's all laced with something, who knows. Or maybe my long time theory of "It's in the water" will be proven some day.

But Montana is apparently known for its meth, and we don't really have any violent crimes at all out here. Maybe it's the lack of people, but Great Falls, Bozeman, Missoula, and other cities don't have a whole lot of violent crime going on. Petty theft, vandalism, nothing you wouldn't expect a typical teenager to do. Missoula is apparently the "new rape capital", but honestly, what college town isn't? Especially with a police force that does nothing but sit on it's arse.

So, yeah, that's rather interesting, comparing the two.

As far as what this guy was on, who knows. He was eating a guy's face, and he's now dead. Hopefully, if he was on something, or it was laced with some particularly interesting stuff, it won't go and make other people run around naked and eat people's faces.

Strange story, all around.

What I'm waiting for is how long before some group pops up and blames it on zombie movies and goth metal?
:rofl1:

I wouldn't doubt that possibility. DH listens to several different types of metal...maybe I'll ask him later today if it has ever reminded him of zombies. Or made him want to be one.

What, are you saying you don't think Judas Priest made James Vance turn himself into a walking muppet and Richard Ramirez didn't start raping and mutilating victims because he listened to AC/DC?! But the logic is so obvious... ;)

Suddenly want to get up and play RDR Undead Nightmare...

Ok, pot (straight marijuana) is NOTHING compared to Meth. Its simple science. If you are comparing crime statistics between totally different places the most common type of drug is NOT the only difference by a long shot.

I think the one positive about all the media coverage, for the victim that is, he's a lot more likely to receive the continuing care and therapy he deserves. Whether it's through donations or what, people tend to take an interest in what happens to folks who survive these kinds of things.

What means did he try before using his gun? Maybe I missed the part where he was forced to shoot first. Yes yes, he was biting a man's face, I DID get that bit.

Eta - how do we know this was a murder in process? Maybe the guy was naked because the other one tried to sexually assault him, he got mad and chewed his face off?? Then by US law HE was defending himself by any means necessary.......

Just saying.
According to the article I read, this guy wasn't just applying a bite to the other man's face. He was biting down, ripping off, chewing, and swallowing.

People passing by first witnessed the attack. They tried shouting at the guy, but I don't blame them for not trying to physically put an end to it. The cops were called in to handle it.

While I'm all for shooting straight to the head, the only reason why I imagine why that wasn't done is because this psycho's head/face was down near the other guy's. A slightly off shot couuld've/would've killed the victim.
