About two weeks ago, Voodoo got a cut on the inside of his hind leg while breaking through the living room window. It was down to the bone, but small--less than 1/2 inch in length.

We took him to the vet and got him stitched. Voodoo being Voodoo, he pulled out the stitches within four days. We didn't worry about it since the wound was already staying closed on its own. So we also didn't bother taking him back to the vet to get the stiches pulled.

Last night, I noticed that there is good-sized bulge on his leg where the cut was. It's not huge, but definately noticeable. Hubby and I examined it. It seems hard to the touch, but not red or warm like an infection. Voodoo showed no signs of pain. He still gallops around and is his normal bouncy self.

What is this thing? Should I take him to the vet to check it out? Or should I give it a while and see if it goes down?

Scar tissue or hematoma I think? Not sure...probably wouldn't hurt to get it checked out anyway.

Yep, its probably just a little hematoma. Our puppy got this at her incision when she was neutered. She played a little too rough afterwards and the incision site just kind of bulged up. The vet told us to put a hot compress on it for 5-10 minutes a couple times a day. After about 4-6 days, it went away.

Abscess or hematoma. They could lance it for you if you want but it most likely won't harm him unless it ruptures on the inside into his blood stream.
