My siberian husky will not eat inless I sit with her.
I have to literally get on the ground and sit beside her..

If I dont she will not eat.
I have tried slowly moving away over time, but she notices and stops eating.

When she is hungry she tells me, she cries and whines.
I feed her, and if I leave she refuses to eat, she will just follow me around whining and crying till I give in and sit with her.

Why does she do this?
is it normal?

Why does she do this?
Because she's trained YOU! LOL!

is it normal?
YES!

You can turn the tables easily. Put her food down for 15 minutes and walk away and go about your business. Ignore her whining. Don't look at her when she's following you around being the drama queen. After 15 minutes, pick up the food bowl and put it away until the next usual feeding time. Do this consistantly. Don't get wussy and cave. She won't likely starve herself to death....that goes totally against the instinct for self preservation. You should see her eating within 3 or 4 days or a week. Keep water available and she'll be fine.

Doberluv beat me to it. Ditto to everything. :) I honestly don't think it will take as long as a week, though, if you stick to your guns. She likes having a dinner buddy! Unfortunately, you probably have other things you need to be doing while she eats. ;)

I agree with everything above Huskies airn't dumb dogs their extremly smart almost too smart. She will eat when she is hungary enough and she will learn you are the boss not her she is dominating you and its not a good thing.
