Yay eggs! I LOVE chickens and you have some very lovely girls there!

How are the dogs doing with them?

Kim and Web are both okay with them now at least in the pen. Webster avoids them. I could see Kim giving chase in a bigger area if they really got running, but so far she hasn't and has studiously ignored them when fluttering under her nose.

As for Mira...well she has both a genetic and experiential overwhelming desire to put feathered things in her mouth. She's okay if she's in an active stay and told to leave it but it's a toes-dug-in eyes intent every muscle tensed sort of thing. Works in an emergency (like when a suicidal hen flew the coop -- literally) to stop her and hold her while I put the hen back where she belongs, and she won't try to enter their enclosure as she knows it's off limits, but let's just say they'll never be frolicking in the lawn together...

    More chicken pics?

Growing season is winding down but they still find green to graze.

    New kid on the block...

I've been on the lookout for a nice roo since late summer. Everything came together yesterday and I was able to bring home this handsome fella. He's about the same age as my hens, a blue wheaten Maran.

Currently in quarantine and not really thrilled about it, but he's still a handsome bird.
