Separation Anxiety Question

We recently adopted/took over care of a 6 month old labradoodle.
She has been wonderful so far, but today I left for about 30 minutes and she chewed a piece of paper and peed on her bed. Yes I left her out of he crate. The previous owners kept her in there about 18 hrs if not more out of a day.
I just hate putting her in there. Anyway, do you think this is still adjustment until she trusts us? Or is this the SA?

Sounds like she's just being a puppy. At this age most pups are not housebroken and able to be left alone without having accidents, and many love to chew.

It could be SA, but it sounds like she was just taking advantage of being able to get into trouble.

I know it must be hard to crate her due to her past experiences, but if she's getting a lot of attention and exercise when she's with you then she'll be fine and it'll keep your stuff and pee-free and chew-free. Maybe give her a stuffed Kong toy to keep her busy in the crate and make you feel better about putting her in?

I agree with Silverpaws....sounds like normal puppy mischief. I couldn't trust my Dobe pup unattended until he was about 17 months old. LOL. He was the worst puppy I ever had that way.

Our 5 and 1/2 month old puppy is unbelievably house broken so we give him some freedom in the house during the day.

He's been tearing up everything and anything he can get a hold of. Some days its just a sheet of paper, but a few days ago it was an entire box of hanging folders, a box of CDs, a CD case, and on and on and on. We just ignored him for 20 minutes while we cleaned everything up.

We learned our lesson and removed everything that he could possibly shred. Now he's completely mischief and accident free.

Instead of trying to "puppy proof" the house, while we're away or sleeping, we put (both) Gunner and Tira in their room (door open) with access to the hallway and a baby gate seperating them from the living room. I have no doubt in my mind that Tira would be perfectly fine by herself. However, with Gunner behind the gate he tends to bark because Tira is free and I don't want him to bug the neighbors with his barking when we're gone (so they both get put in their room).
Gunner is just shy of 6 months and has had no accidents during the day (from the time we get up til we go to sleep - 10am to 2am). He goes out every 4 hours (sometimes less if he didn't go out the time before) to potty. He always pees when he goes out and every other potty break he'll poop.

It's a matter of consistancy, training, keeping an eye out...and other things. Have fun and I hope things work out soon for you.

ROFLOL!!! That's for sure!!! I cringe at what Lyric use to be able to do in 5 minutes. OMG!!!
