So we've contacted a few shipping companies to get some rates. Here are Delta's policies:

http://www.delta.com/planning_reser...nformation/pet_travel_options/index.jsp#cargo

Prices: http://www.delta.com/planning_reser...nternational_pet/pet_shipping_rates/index.jsp

We weren't planning on adopting this dog. Is anyone interested? I am willing to help offset the cost of shipping. Krissy?

Nancy, you're the first real sign of hope! Could you maybe transport him from Calhoun, GA to Chattanooga, TN?

I'm very interested in adopting him as long as he's not a big shedder and isn't DA. He's exactly what I'm looking for, but I wouldn't be able to take him until the end of January when I close on my home because I'm at my max animal limit in my apartment.

I was confused about how much it costs to ship him?

I could potentially help w/the shipping costs...

Kris,

If we can get him to my place before 11/29, then I will foster him, temperament and coat evaluate him until late December. At that time, I'm driving to northeastern Pennsylvania/New York and if he doesn't shed and is non-dog aggressive, I will gladly hand him over to you.

How does that sound? Can you commit to that? (Not trying to put you on the spot. I just want to know where we stand. PM me if necessary)

I'm glad it looks like we'll be able to pull this off. I don't think I'll be able to help on the route you've proposed, but let me know. I'll be at work until 3 today, but I'll check here as soon as I get home.

Time is running out!! What have we decided?? Can others please commit to helping with his journey..... I can do the calhoun georgia to chattanooga tennessee part. Anyone else live along the route that can lend a helping hand??

I feel bad for all the other dogs too... but at least if we can save one, it's one dog given a second chance at a happy life. I hope this works out.

I'm in Nashville, and I could see if I could transport him to Bowling Green! Let me know if you have someone to get him to Nashville. I need to ask my parents, so I may not be able too, but it's a possibility.

I had a brainstorm on the way home... can we call vets offices/shelters, etc.??? Maybe they will be willing to help out with the legs of the journey we can't get covered, they may have volunteers that would be able. I know the local boxer rescue has a program where you can volunteer to transport animals, maybe some of the terrier rescues have the same. Has anyone contacted the shelter that has him, maybe if we tell them we are just trying to work out how to transport him they will be willing to give him an extra day or so. We're so close to saving this dogs life, we've got to keep trying.

Are we doing anything??? I haven't heard anything for a while and I'm beginning to worry about this dog's fate. Please update us and let us know what's going on and if we're pulling together to help him make his journey.

Sorry about the delay, I sent my laptop in for repairs today and I didn't have a chance to post anything during the day. Finally, at 12 a.m. I have a chance to breath. :)

Update:

This dog will not die! There are several rescue organizations interested in the dog and they will adopt him if he doesn't find a family.

He is aggressive
and has tried to bite personel at the shelter. They can't comment about his coat. He is medium size and between 35 and 40 lbs.

I am still willing to help him in anyway possible and I will follow with the shelter again tomorrow. I will post any news that I have. Biter or not, I think he deserves a fair chance and I'm really glad that he won't be PTS tomorrow.

Thank you so much to all of your for stepping up to help this dog. Your generosity is amazing and shows the true nature of the Chazhound community. I hope that we can continue the trend of trying to rescue dogs in their last days by posting them here.

Maybe we could use the same format that I used in my original post for future listings:

-Picture
-URL of listing
-Dog name, breed, age, gender
-Date to be PTS
-Plan of acction

I am glad to hear that he will not be PTS.

I hope that someone will be able to provide him a loving home and the training necessary to overcome his fear/aggression.

The organisations that are interested in rescuing him may be able to provide help with transport if someone here still wants to take him in.

I agree, all of the help everyone has offered is very admirable.
