    Tomorrow is going to SUUUUCK...

We were out at the park today and he and Virgo dashed down to the creek to get a drink like normal. I whistled for them to come back up, Virgo comes crashign through the trees like a runaway bull moose and Sawyer....is nowhere to be seen. So I whistle again and hear him whine. I think perhaps his ball is floating down the creek and he's torn between going after it and coming to me, so I call him. And he whines again, only this time it sounded different. Just as I get ready to go to him, I say his name again so I can find him and he comes up the bank. Limping. I immediately examined his foot and saw a little smear of blood but little else. We came straight home so I could look at it easier...as far as I can tell he's got little bruising points on his pads and possibly bruising on his ankle, but it's hard to tell through his fur. I iced it as best I could for about 30 minutes and have kept him quiet as much as possible. He's still not putting full weight on it, though it hasn't stopped him from jumping up and off the bed or running after Molly during tonight's walk. I'm hesitant to give him anything for the pain because he's a pretty stoic dog anyway and I need something to try and remind him why he can't go tearing around like normal.

:( My poor boy...just as Virgo gets back into form, he does this. And now I'm going to have to endure a continual symphony of "I'm soooo booooored mooooom" whining and nose nudging tomorrow. We're not going to the park, obviously and I want him to stay off of it as much as possible. Wish Virgo hadn't beheaded the Kong...wish I could afford to buy another one so I could do some frozen PB Kongs to keep them occupied.

Oh poor Sawyer and poor you! I wish I could air-mail a kong to you.

    Heal fast, Sawyer.

Awww, poor boy. Maybe a 20 minute session of quiet trick-training would help? That has saved Meg's sanity on days where it is too cold and miserable to go out and do much.

Hopefully this will be a quick recovery.

    Oh no :(

I doubt this will teach him a lesson, as soon as he feels better he will be tearing around like usual............that's just the kind of guy he is.

    Get well soon Sawyer!

He's walking a little better this morning, might be able to do some heeling/recall work as well as the trick stuff. He's getting better about balancing treats on his nose, though he doens't like it that much. He's good and humors me though.

Virgo is doing well holding things but refuses to have food on her face. She's made it very clear that if food is going to be that close to her, it's going to be in her mouth or she'll just lay down and start kicking me. I"ve never had such a "pawsy" dog...

I feel YOUR pain, Zoomer . . . Bimmer's hurt his leg a few times on the farm - I know once he got kicked - and it doesn't stop him either.

Bronki sheared off the top of both feet pads, the main one not the toe pads in the creek. I hope it isn't a puncture, those can get nasty fast.
