What did they tell you about the black spots on the tongue? NOW, Hammie has black marks on the inside of his gigantic ears. Poor guy....I was rubbing...and rubbing...like some kind of crazed mom trying to clean his ears really well. Seems they are like black freckles on the inside of his ears. And, did I tell you he now has 2 big black spots on his tongue? Maybe it is normal, but it bugs me.

Debi... what kind of dog do you have? Is it a mix? If so, the black spots on the tongue are usually indicative of having chow in the bloodline. Love the name Hammie, btw... my beloved Yogi (yellow lab who has passed) his nickname was Mr. Hamm or Hammy. Because he was such a HAM and his head was as big as a HAM!

Gus has black spots on his tongue!! It looks like he's been chewing a pen! Plus he has a curled up tail! Does this mean he has Chow in him?!! because we were told he was White GSD X Rhodesian Ridgeback!! I suppose the shelter could have been wrong?!!

Hammie, aka...Hamlin Cort...yes, a dorky name...hehehe is a GSD. The black spots on the tongue are common is shepherds or any dog predominately (don't know if I can spell correctly today!) black.

EliNHunter........LOL...my Ham is certainly a big HAM, too!! how funny! I adore yellow labs!!! I bet your guy was a beauty. My next dog will be a yellow lab. :)

Gustav..it DOES look like he has chewed a black pen or something. The first time I noticed it...I freaked out completely!! Now, even if I'm told it is 'normal'..........sure wish I could wipe it off. lol bet those spots are the GSD in him.

I haven't taken him yet. :(

Glad to hear that more dogs have them though.
