okkkk here is the update..Vic and Nic and mary had a lovely time in mom's backyard..lots of running and playing..while i took mom to the store..before we left i found this ad the paper Dogs (2)
Big black & tan male, blond retriever puppy.
Lost , vic of 49th terr independence
which is across a river and about 40 miles or so. A long ways.
When i was coming home i saw another sign..lost dogs 2 with a pic that looks just like him too..so i wrote down the number. When i got back to Mom's a lady called from the ind. number and she is coming out to see if this is her dog..i also called the other number which must be the fido finder because it is the right zip. So i am going out to set up Victor's party. I got the dogs Cheezy bagels and a sprinkle donut for Vic plus a balloon for pictures....i better hurry..sounds like Nic or Otis if he is the Independence dog..will be going home.

Independence man just called..his wife is asleep..thought she was on her way..their dog has white on back of one foot so this is not theirs..but he really looks like the one on the post about a mile from here, and that would make the most sense. I left a message..hope it is!
I lost two dogs..and never found them again. One was a fuzzy little dog that i found in the creek..she would drag my bedding and clothes to the front door and stay there until i returned..there is a low window she would look out. I had her for about 12 years. I almost lost my mind in grief..she was the one that rode my horse with me. We had a labrador stolen out of our back yard too. I think i know who had him, but couldn't prove a thing. My daughter was 4 yrs old and this was her dog she had him from her toddler days. They were best friends. I know just exactly how a person feels..the worry, can't sleep, all the awful thoughts that run thru your head. at the same time the dog is in peril, so i try the best i can. I think my little dog was hit but even tho i searched everywhere i couldn't find a trace of her. I filled out signs and notecards..called all the shelters and flunked chemistry. The only class i ever failed becuase i couldn't concentrate. That is a terrible situation for anybody to be in..
it is the least someone can do to corral a dog and get it off the street, even if it means a trip to the shelter. If this had been a dog with the temperment of Onyx i would have had to drive her to one, no choice about it, i am just thankful this guy is mellow yellow!
DRove Aaron around to see the posted pic..he could get out and study it..said it is not Dominic so we struck out..dern it..but we will go on. I have a tiny hope that Mom would get attached..Her dog puppet died last year, Trudy is old old and so is Sammy. Would be a nice dog for Hyia, but i daren't ask. We will go meet Kelly tonight. she and i helped little dog find a home..maybe we can do it again.

Here is dominic's pic..wish i could have had the light in his eyes for they are exactly the same colour as his legs..today has been nothing but a rush..and i didn't take my time..darn it. The other number didn't work out..so i will keep looking and asking until he has a home.

Onynx's little boy flagged me down and asked me if i had taken the dog to the pound yet..i told him no i wasn't going to as long as things were going well. He said could he come walk her>>i said yes..and she is a fixed he. He was suprised. So he just left my house with the dog on a leash. I asked him his name while he was here so his name is Logan..and i said it was nice to know his name, that i have been thinking of him as Onyx's little boy..and he said oh i am not related to them..i just help them catch her when she is out. That is a relief to my heart. He is a very nice little boy! i showed him the lost dog ad from the paper but that it wasn't the right one, and told him what has been done so far.

oh my this story never ends..logan brought back Nic and we talked on the porch for awhile..apparently there were two dogs and the pound truck that went by that day took one..Logan said it looked just like Nic's sister..more white, but the same look to them. He told the pound lady that he would take this dog (the other was already in the truck with the door shut) so that is where this whole story starts..He said he took a pic for his dad to see..i told him i had done the same and gave him the one that i posted..he said i could go down to walgreens and make some copies for a poster..so i pointed in the door at the printer and said i can do that right here..he asked good questions like what do i do with the dog when i go to work..i told him i am an artist and i work at home..and that the dogs get three hours yard time at my mother's house each afternoon. He said if i wanted help he had a staple gun ..just knock on his door and he will help..such a neat kid. poor Nic's sister..darn it is just so sad. I am going to call my brother..he was talking of wanting another dog when his dog (Mary's sister) is gone..maybe he should get this one now and Mary's sister might lose about 20 lbs helping her live a longer life! One way or the other i told Logan we will work this out.
What kind of hound do you think Nic is? Black and Tan maybe? this site made me wonder: http://www.indiancreekkennels.kiduns.com/ Nic looks like a well bred dog.
Logan came back and said that a woman stopped him and asked if he was the boy walking the dog earlier..she said that the dog and his sister belonged to an old woman that passed away about a week ago..that she use to walk the dogs for the old woman once in a while. The dogs got out when the emts were going in and out. So that is the story..Dog's name isShaffer, his sister is Medear. Guess it is true..no one looking for this dog at all..and Medear just made me cry. My Mom is going (i didn't ask she volunteered) to take Shaffer for a while while i keep looking..said she would like him herself (wow wound't Hyia) but for her age. He can't stay here. I was busted by the landlord with dog on leash in yard. There wasno way to disapear into thin air so i told him the story and said it was just for a night or two. He said he wasn't worried about it, that he trusted me..I cannot keep him, i cannot afford another dog. So that is that. I will put him on some adoption lists and we'll see how he does at moms. She has a huge back yard with 8 ft fence (in someplaces 14 my father liked tall things) so Vic Mary and Shaffer will see each other every day. Right now he is drying in the bathroom..from his bath. I took him to the off leash park today and he had a ball. All tired dogs here now.
I have e-mailed the raytown animal control and told them the story and what i have learned about these two dogs. I told them i wished i could come pick her up but i cannot manage another dog. I did tell them about Shaffer and that we could work together from both ends to get the two dogs adopted to the same person. I sent shaffer's pic and requested a pic of Medear if they have one. I told them about his good manners and amiable personality. I also sent them the Chazhound site and where to find this thread. I do not know what else to do.
Shaffer report: Mom said he had a peaceful evening..growled a little when he first went to sleep. She had to get up in the night for Hyia has ashtma and sometimes coughs needing her medicine so while she tended to Hyia Shaff got up on Hyia's Bed and was evicted..when Mom went to bed Shaff ws in her bed and was evicted..(poor guy) we will get him a bed to his liking...he had his breakfast at 7am so that is a good report. Mom seems pleased with him, She measured him, he is 42 inches long, his tail is 18. He has a realllly long tail. I took Victor over to play..as soon as Victor saw him he flashed me his "grin". They are out in the backyard now and Mary came home with me. I couldn't keep dragging that poor dog in the car when it makes him so sick..and i wasn't sure if a steady diet of dramimine would be good for him either..so for now it is good. We will see if the animal shelter contacts me or not..i requested that they let me know they recieved my e-mail. I still think it would be best if Shaff and his sister were back together again.
