Anyone know where you can get Sacagawea dollars anymore? Other than Ebay. I will do Ebay if nessecary but I'd rather just get it somewhere around town if possible.

We've been reading a lot of People in History picture books and Hannah really likes Sacagawea (she loves all the history picture books but tonight we read Sacagawea and she is pretty keen on it lol) and I thought it would be neat to get her a Sacagawea dollar but have no idea where I would even get one these days.

Anyone know?

lol odd thing.. here in Boston if you use regular money in the public transport machines, it'll spit out dollar coins.
Let me know if you'd like me to send you one. I'm pretty sure I've gotten a sacagawea coin a few times, I could give it a shot.

but other than that, no idea! I suppose the bank might have some..

I have gotten a ton from using a vending machine at work and paying with a five so they give me gold dollars. Most are the newer ones but sometimes you get lucky.

Ugh all I ever get from vending machines is a buttload of quarters LOL

Fran if you have one that would be sweet lol.

I will ask at the bank and see if they have them, too. Worth a shot

The bank used to have them. I assume they still do. You may have to get more than one (I can't remember if they come in rolls or not)

I heard you could go to a bank or post office and ask to trade for a Sacagawea dollar. I think the stamp machine at our post office spits them out as change.

A roll would be OK if that is the only way the bank gives them. I will definitely ask next time we are there. Maybe I will hand them out to our preschoolers for "show and tell" lol

I'll dig around a bit, too. My grandmother used to work at a coin company, so we used to get all the "cool" coins, along with the fancy yearly sets. I wouldn't be shocked if I have some in a jar somewhere. If you strike out at the bank, shoot me a PM and I'd be happy to look and send her one.

Are you guys still on the look-out for one of these? I got one at the train station today and was about to use it on laundry when I remembered this thread!
