Today, FOHA lost a very sweet cat. Her name was Trinity. She had been abandoned in our driveway in a crate, matted to hell and hyperthyroid to boot. We had her in the cattery for a few months, always making sure to medicate her twice a day and check her weight, and make sure she ate. We tried to get her a foster home, but its quite easy for people to overlook or turn their noses up at an elderly cat with medical issues that looked like something the tide brought in. This morning, my coworker, Brandy, found Trinity unable (or unwilling), to move much, and rushed her to the vet. There it was found that her chest and abdomen had filled with fluid, and her vital organs were shutting down. The decision was made to let her go. Trinity did not die alone, she had Brandy, who was the one who cared about and for her the most, at her side to the end.

An Excerpt from "Memory", from the musical Cats (this is Trinity's song), well, two excerpts really:

Memory
All alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

Touch me
It's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me
You'll understand what happiness is

Rest in peace, little sweetheart.
