I am not up for talking much right now but wanted to share our news. Luna went in this morning to be spayed. We got news that something went wrong during the surgery and her heart stopped. The vet thinks something to do with the anesetic. I can't remember all the details at this point. My head is just reeling. But they could not get it started agian. It doesn't seem real yet. So if I am not on to respond or post much for a while please understand. I knew in the back of my head that there was always a chance this can happen. It is major surgery but I never really think about it. It is so rare and I have never had any issues with my pets getting spayed or neutered before. She was so strong and healthy. I still expect to see her laying on her chair. We will always love and miss you our sweet girl.

I'm so sorry, it's such a shock when that sort of thing happens. It happened a few years ago to one of my breeder's dogs.... went in for a spay, never came home. :(

That's terrible. Huge hugs to you guys. :(

Summer had a bad reaction to anesthesia once and it is definitely something that is rare but needs to be kept in mind. I'm terrified of putting her under again if I ever have to.

More and more hugs. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thank you so much everyone for your support. Woke up this morning and the house seemed too quiet. Luna always slept on my side of the bed. Everyone seems quieter, less animated. Like the whole house is recognizing she is missing.

Oh my god- I'm so sorry :(

I couldn't imagine how hard that would be. Like you said, we think that a spay is such an easy procedure that we quickly forget that it is major surgery. When my husband worked at a vet hospital during college, a little Yorkie died during her spay. She just never woke up from the anesthesia. It's not fair at all.

Lots and lots of ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))
