roxy eating her own poo! disgusting!

roxy has been eating half of the poo that she lets out (she would prbably eat all of it if i havent caught her in the act of nasty crime!) is this ok for dogs? i was just wondering because its nasty but i heard it was perfectly alright. and when she does what is good to clean her mouth. i have been giving her these treats that will freshen up her breath a little but i dont want her to think that she is getting a treat for pooing in the wrong place(!) and eating her own feces

Sorry to hear that Roxy thinks poo is so tasty! I don't have any "poo eaters" but a good friend of mine has a doxie that LOVES poo! He comes to the dog park and his main goal while there to watch for the next dog to squat.. and rushes over to eat it before his mom can stop him!

If you haven't seen this article on Linda Arndt's web site where she says "Some breeds are notorious for stool eating, and NO diet, be it raw or processed will stop them from thinking stool eating is just the neatest thing to do."

shes just eating her own stool. thats it. she does her business in the house. so is this not healthy? it doesnt seem to be affecting her at all except disgusting breath

Hi there I let you in on a secret dogs love anything thats disgusting!! They love the smell of dead or smelly things ( they think rolling in a dead animal smells better than the shampoo that you just washed them in!) and yes some dogs love the taste as well. Dont despair it wont hurt her at all and it doesnt mean she is not getting enough nutrients in her diet its all behavioral! One thing i will mention is its probably a very good idea for poo eaters to be wormed a bit mere frequently say every 6 weeks. Only one suggestion is to remove all poo away from her as soon as you can. Hope all goes well
