This is Rockys story

Rocky was bred by a very irrensponible breeder and this lady called on my moms and I help one day she said she needed to get rid some dogs and wanted to know if we wanted any so we went to look and what we found was horrble twenty five dogs all in crates in a dark, wet, stinky basement all of the crates we full of piles of feces and all the dogs were covered with it anyways I took Rocky (because he caught my eye) and my mom took three other dogs one had to be put to sleep and she still has the other two and we turned her in to the human society for the rest (21 dogs, and some other animals) I took Rock to the vet and he was so thin (25 pounds at 22 months Doberman Pinscher) infested with parasites, and had urine burns on his skin so we got him all fixed up physically not mentally we are still working on that and in 14 days he put on 25 pounds I was so proud of him I got him in December in March my husband and I had to go out of state for a family emergency and I hated to leave him but I had to so we left him at a boarding kennel that was well known and responible (so we thought) when we returned on the 20th of March and went to pick him up they informed us he had escaped from them on March 9th one day after we left and they had no idea where he was I was so frantic and ferious I called all of the local rescue orgs. and the shelter and even the police department to see if they had seen him two days later on March 22nd I got a call from one of the rescues saying that the police department had him to call them and they could get back to me so I called the police and they put me in contact with the officer who "had" him he told me Rocky had broken into a house he crashed through someones sliding glass door and they reported a burgular and when the police got there it was Rocky and it took them 2 1/2 hours to catch him (he was probably scared to death) the officer also told me that since no one has claimed him that he had given him to this real nice family and they probably wouln't give him back he said that he would contact them and let them know but not to get my hopes up so anyways on April 5th I got a phone call from Rockys "new" mom and dad and they questioned me like I was a criminal and finally after alot of begging and pleading and convincing I got him back on April 20th almost two months after I left him needless to say he never stays anywhere any more and goes everywhere with me now I just think his story is amazing and that he is a really lucky dog and that I am as lucky as him to have him in my life ;)

Whew! His life started out rocky, but now he's sure a lucky dog! And weren't you lucky that someone took him in who was so caring and concerned about him that they weren't going to turn him over to just anyone! At least he was being well cared for by responsible people.

Glad you got your Rocky back.

WOW...what a terrible story with a very happy ending. I can't imagine having to leave because of a family emergency and coming home to find out that Rocky is missing. How irresponsible on the part of the boarding kennel. I can't believe that they never called you, although there really wasn't anything you could do being out of town. I am so happy for you AND for Rocky. He is extremely lucky to have such a great and caring mommy. Did the humane society do anything to that woman who kept the 25 dogs in crates in her basement? How horrible. People can be so cruel and not even think twice about it. You and your mom are wonderful people. ;)

Just to make it clear we did call the human society after we pulled out of the driveway of the lady that had these dogs but unfortunatly the human society had been closed due to a lack of funds and support from the community so we did have to call a rescue and they did take care of the rest of the dogs there were 21 other Dobermans and 5 horses and I don't know how many cats and other animals unfortunatly many had to be euthanized due to the neglect:(
