Riley has always been super rough and domineering with Travis. She beats him regularly :rofl1:

Today, just before work I hear a crash and a scream. I run downstairs and see what is happening. Travis is sitting there spitting out blood. Riley had body checked him and he hit the patio furniture.

The result.

And maybe the tooth fairy will come and see him tonight.

She is pure evil. The poor guy never defends himself. The last time he was in was for whiplash, caused by MADAM!

I've never heard of another dog giving a housemate whiplash before! And losing three teeth - that must've been one heck of a body check. Maybe missy needs to not have free time with Travis?!?!

It would break their hearts to be apart. They are like peas and carrots, she doesn't do it on purpose, its just that he is so timid and she is so assertive. He is also a very tense dog so a body check it tripled because he tenses up so hard when she hits him.

She is 1kg (2lbs) smaller then him too, so its not like its a size disparity.

Holy cow. I'm assuming it is less serious than it looks, since you are fairly relaxed about it! I'm probably an overprotective mom in some ways. If one of my dogs had sent the other to the vet multiple times, and was required to be put under, there would be *zero* unsupervised play time.

Hope he's back to his old self quickly! Maybe get him a football helmet?

Guess you have never seen cattle dogs play, ther was a couple of times that my old dog, Izze was playing (not maliciously) with Josefina & knocked her clean out o_O. Izze neve used he mouth (she had great bite inhibition) bu she would use her body on dogs & cart wheeled a few.

Yep. I am pretty relaxed about it. She IS rough and she DOES hurt him, but not on a daily basis. He will live. It was a freak accident that he was body checked into furniture.

He is a clutz and hurts himself far more often then shhe hurts him. I tend to not fuss about the dogs unless its way serious. There is no way I will be separating them. They live for each other.

I can entirely sympathize with not fussing over them! My dogs are rough and tumble... when they sustain injuries other people freak out over (broken nails being the most common, but also things like going through barbed wire fences!) and I don't seem too concerned, people can get pretty uppity lol

My dogs have accidentally hurt each other during supervised play... it happens!

Yep. Its like people asking kids to be separated because of a little black eye.

Whoa poor boy! That looks intense. Mia can get real rough with Summer sometimes. She LOVES body slamming and grabbing Summer by the ears and tail. Luckily no injuries yet. But Beau manages to hurt himself too often. His toenails especially seem to get ripped off all the time.

Oh believe me I understand rough play - malinois/cattle dog play gets pretty crazy here sometimes, but because of that we're teaching the dogs to settle down on cue and have some pretty strict rules about ambushing other dogs during potty time.

Obviously I'm not there, but I thought I'd share my concern. Glad you have it under control.

My guys go full out WWE on each other (dive bombing off furniture included) but we've never had a tooth knocked out, let alone three. Yikes! Though then again... maybe that's where Auggie lost that mysteriously missing tooth...
Is he back up and at it today?

Poor guy!

I pulled one of my boyfriend's dog's teeth out playing tug with him when he was 2. I didn't yank or anything, it just came out. :[ He didn't notice.

He is up and at it today. He was playing with her when he arrived back from the vet.

It is pretty funny watching him try to nibble his legs though. LOL
