The Mini Pins are utterly, utterly charming; I can see why she's so smitten with them. First, though, there's a question for your daughter to ask herself: what is it about the Mini Pins that appeals to her? If it is the appearance and the bright, energetic personality, she might want to broaden her scope a check out the Manchester Terrier. They are very, very similar in look and character, but by accounts, are more congenial with other dogs and breeds in the household. They also have two size ranges, which might be an advantage to her considering their fragility compared to her larger dogs. They aren't as "in vogue" as the Mini Pins are right now, either, which gives her a better - and possibly less expensive - chance of obtaining a good, solid, healthy pair for her foundation.

Here are some good links you can give her:

Miniature Pinscher Club of America

American Manchester Terrier Club: This site is a little different to negotiate. There is a bar at the bottom under a line reading ?Health Survey Information.? The bar underneath is where you can choose different pages.

AKC Standards for Manchester Terrier

AKC Standards for Miniature Pinscher

This is a good index link: http://www.dog-breeds.net/Dog_Breeds_Directory.htm

After she's done her "due diligence" and research, it might be a good idea if she visited, or at least communicated by e-mail and/or phone with some breeders, bearing in mind that the breeder DOES want to sell her some puppies, of course!

Keep me posted.
