im going to say that its a jerk, controlling, out of line move for the breeder to demand you name your puppy 3/4 to their choosing. "aliki's notanuff blabla spice" is 30 letters right there. so with the kennel name, and the word spice, you get a grand total of SIX LETTERS to use to name YOUR DOG. its reasonable to ask buyers to stick with a theme, breeders do it all the time. A names, or M names, or a theme of SPICES/HERBS would be totally reasonable, and give you a ton of fun leeway and wiggle room, you could even go into some far fetched stuff like spice brands or spice names in other languages, or latin plant/herb/spice names

demanding certain words that pretty much take up all of your spaces? boooooooo

/rant

i vote for "he who controls the spice" but of course it wont fit
At least the breeder is giving her a choice at all. Yeah, it's kind of a limiting choice with the two kennel names plus the word spice, but Di is right - you can buy extra letters if it's that important. Heck, with Kaylee's litter... people had NO choice on names, I was a jerk/controlling/out of line breeder who named the puppies what I wanted, to fit in line with my theme.

[Aliki Notanuff Spicey Dreams] This one sounds dirty. I like it. :rofl1:
OMG I love this name!!! Hahaha!

I am perfectly fine with it :) I completely understand a breeder wanting spefic names :)
I did ask if we change the context of spice to spicy spiced ect :)

I do like the spicey dreams one...but with my boys doing juniors with this guy later might not be the best ;)

Quinn is handsome. I love ibizan hounds! So glad there's one on this forum to admire. :)

Umm, the word "spice" is pretty limiting, eh? Random brainstorming:

Twice the Spice / Thrice the Spice
Spice(d) Right
(With) Extra Spice
Spice(d) Wisely
This new little guy will actually make three Ibizans on the forum now not including the few people I know that have Ibizans that lurk occasionally but aren't actual posters yet... :)

Aliki Notanuff Spice for Me

Aliki Notanuff Spicey Dreams

Aliki Notanuff Spicey Stuff

Aliki Notanuff Spiced Dream

Aliki Notanuff Spiced Up Dreams

Aliki Notanuff Nice Like Spice

Aliki Notanuff Visions of Sugar N Spice

Aliki Notanuff Spice it Up

Aliki Notanuff Spice for Dreams
I vote the last one here for sure.

Spice for dreams, or dream spice. That's a tough one.

I do get though the breeder wanting to have say in the registered name, some breeders I know do not give the buyer that option - they'll take suggestions but get to override the name choices put down.

Mainly to prevent having a bunch of 'princess bailey' names. It's one thing if the owner 'gets it' and comes up with some neat ideas but it's another thing if they go for the princess honey boo boo fluffybutt type names and it's a dog the breeder plans to co-own and show/promote. :rofl1:

Personally I like not having the call name in the reg'd name, unless it really works.

I have a dog who's first owners registered her as DeLancey's Lickie Nickie Kno

And this was long before AKC allowed name changes. She is now Grand Champion DeLancey's Lickie Nickie Kno NA NAJ

So yeah...I can't really blame breeders for ensuring their puppies end up with acceptable name. Grand Champion Lickie Nickie is not very appealing :nono:

haha oh yeah. Years ago I was watching obedience and there was a kicka** little pom. My friend and I were so enamored by this little dog we looked her up in the catalog to see where she came from. Lo and behold the laughs when we saw her registered name "Princess Wiggles Von Sniff Sniff". Still an amazing little dog and we complimented her handler/owner when they came out of the ring, but... gah.. the name!
