Mods, if this is the wrong place for this thread, feel free to move it.

I'm on the market for a nice digital SLR, and have a budget of up to $800. I want to take action shots at rodeos and stock dog events. Anyone have any reccomendations?

Others will have camera suggestions, I know the Canon Rebel is usually recommended as a good beginner SLR, and is reasonably priced so you can still get an extra lens.

You may want to shop Black Friday sales for something like this too, usually Wal-Mart has a good deal on the Rebel, and maybe other models too.

I have really good success with my Canon Rebel XSI. I went for a less expensive body and put the money towards a better lens (85mm 1.8)and have done well with the photos of dog sport that I use it for.
