Meet Zoe and Zap. I wish they were mine, but they are not. They are currently "store pets" where I work, so I will have to settle for snuggling them 5 days a week and loving them like they are my own.

Zap whiskers!

Zap attempting the great escape.

Zoe!

The girls together.

Zap again

We tried to do a photoshoot with them. It's HARD to take good pictures of moving ratties!! They all turned out as bloopers. Not a single decent shot of the bunch.

See?

I love her blaze.

If this one were clear we'd have been set!!

And not the rats, but important:

They need their nails trimmed. I love to snuggle them, but my neck needs to be spared.

They are so cute! I LOVE Zoe's blaze! <3 :D

As for the nails - I buy perches and similar items in the bird aisle that keep their nails pretty filed down ;) lol

OMG Zap is amazing! I saw a rat that looked a lot like her at the petstore once and ALMOST bought here.... and then I regretted not getting her when she sold like the next day.

And the nails, yep, the most painful part of rat ownership. The scratches wouldnt' be so bad if they didn't BURN so much for the next couple of days. :(

Gorgeous! Looks like they have pretty nice digs for just the 2 of them. Zap reminds me of the girlie that I desperately wanted to adopt... but someone else snatched her up before I could. lol.

Ohh, the nails.... I now try to cover up as much skin as possible when holding rats! They're killer.

Thanks guys, I might be pretty biased, but I do think that they are the prettiest rats EVER! lol

Kerri, you're more than welcome to come by and snuggle them, they are very social. Zap gives lots of kisses :)

As for where they came from, they actually belong to the boss and they were her kids rats. Unfortunately, after a few months of trying everything they could think of, her daughter was still breaking out in hives any time she held them, and they couldn't keep them at home anymore. This way the kids still get to come by and see their rats, they're still getting TONS of love and attention, and they weren't just re-homed to anyone.

i second the "sandy perches" you can buy in the bird isle for ratty nails and a simple brick also works :)
