Again - it loses alot in translation but the jist is there. Those proficient in Chinese can appreciate.

I taught this song character for character to Emii. She couldn't speak or understand much Chinese when we first met - I have this habit of switching back and forth between Cantonese and English when speaking to friends or family - even with caucasian friends it happens lol. I got irritated with Emii and said that I would teach her so that we could communicate in more creative manners; English one way and Canto the other or vice versa or just everything mixed up. "It's IN you! it'll flow naturally!" I remember telling her.

She was 80% fluent as of this year. The first time we went out to Karaoke together I picked this song out and sang it while she mumbled along.

"Uh-dim-um-tien-mum-bum-boom-bak-so-sap-man-an..." she sang. I painstakingly went through the proper pronunciation of the lyrics with her probably over 50 times over the course of a few months. It's a meaningful song on many levels - d@mn I miss you Emii <3.
