If I knew how to make molds I would send you some...you sure don't want to put a burnished piece out there!

My son was disappointed when he found he out that the grey was not the final color. That is the color of the wet clay. It has shine because I have burnished it when it became leather hard.

There is a mold making class by one man that studied under a master mold maker in Hungary but it is over my budget. Anything is over my budget. Maybe next year I can get a private lesson from him. anyway if I kept making the same ones I wouldn't make different birds and there is no way I have room in this small apt to put any kind of equipment beyond my work table and mess I have in my work space.

The duck will end up hopefully looking like brown stone the way the birds did. He will not have glaze on him tho I am glazing some of the birds, but not all, and certainly not my favorites.

Okay...listen. That has got to be my all time favorite out of everything I've seen you do. There is something so special about that one. Graceful, simple elegance with just a hint of humor. (from posture or positioning of her neck). Or maybe it's not humor I'm seeing, but personality showing through. It looks like she sees something or is reacting to something. But there's something more than just a still duck. There's life in that girl. LOL. Just absolutely beautiful. Well done! I can see "Quack" standing alone or with 5 little mini "Quacks" lined up behind.

Have you ever done a seagull? They're really pretty birds too.

Anyhow, I think that this is gorgeous. Now, I'm not understanding something. Is this done in a mold or did you fashion him/her free-hand?

I agree that this piece is very elegant. You caught the headshape beautifully! I really like this one.
