Dear all,

May I know how many hours does your puppy sleep in a day? Do they sleep without waking up for long hours or they constantly woke up every 1-2 hour of sleep?

The reason why I ask this question is that my puppy seems to sleep whole afternoon everyday and he is very active at night. Eventhough he fell asleep at night, he will be awake in the middle of the night and keep barking /whining until I have to attend him. Usually he will take a short nap around 11pm, then will wake up at 2am. Then he will sleep again at 3am and wake up at 5am.

- How can I change his sleeping hours?
- Do you face the same problem with your puppy?
- Should I not allow him to sleep at in the afternnon and keep playing with him until he is exhausted, and hopefully he will have a long sleep at night without disturbing me and my neighbours?

My puppy naps throughout the day, anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour or so. I work from home, so when I get up and move around she wakes up and follows me. She gets a lot of exercise- we take her on several walks and she has at least one play date each day with another dog for at least an hour. When we go to bed at night, she sleeps with us and is out the whole night (thank God!) If she wakes up in the middle of the night she does so quietly because she never disturbs us.

As to how to change your puppies behavior, I"m not sure. If you can, try taking her out more frequently during the day for shorter stints so she keeps moving but isn't worn out. Good luck!

thanks scooter, i wish i could bring him for a walk as in when I wanted to but due to my working hours, I only can play with him at night before I go to sleep.

during day time, my mom look after him, but she doesnt play with my puppy that much as she works from home.

do, is it advisable to change his sleeping behaviour and if yes, how can I do it?

It depends on the age of the puppy. My little guy used to sleep ALL the time almost 20 hours a day . The older he gets he will nap less and less.

I know the perfect way to wear out your puppy for night , take him to a doggy daycare, they play and burn energy then come home and crash. I know where your comming from though, i have a 10 week old puppy and he sleeps ALOT but they are babies just remmeber that, babies sleep alot not to be worried about
