It seems that sometimes my puppy gives a little whimper when pooping. And when I checked there seems to be some red fliuid (blood?). Is my puppy suffering from some constipation? It seems that at first the first stools are easy but at the end he seems to struggle.

    has he been wormed ?
if there is blood could be hook worm!
take a stool sample to your Vet ASAP.

Is this the same problem you were having before or something different.

I remember a post, but not specifics.

    Please give more details.

And contact a vet if you are worried about the BM's.

ok, well he usually poops fin at the begining. I just checked some stool and it seemed fine from looks, it was just the last small little stool"ette" that seemed to have a red fluid to it...seems to me like blood. And he only whimpered during the final last stool"ette" that I described. I'm gonna call my Monday, unfortunatly he is closed Sundays, but I just wanted to know if anyone can shed some light.

Was there another problem with this same dog?
I just think I remember a post, but didn't do a search to find out.

Has your dog had reg. medical attention? Such as dewormings, vaccinations, etc.?

Roundworms can easily cause blood in the stool, so can hookworms.

Please refresh my memory with the history of your dog.:D
So I won't have to spend time searching.

No I never had a problem with blood in his poop this is a first time.
The only meds. he's on is an anitbiotic for a little kennel cough and some ear meds. but besides that I took him to the vet yesterday and he got vaccinations...his first shots actually...he got a shot (12-15 week old puppy level), some liquid in his nose (bordetella i believe), and some liquid in his mouth (looked like a pale mustard color)

I usually get a little schedule of what he gets each visit and this visit he got what they call "Deworming routine". I'm sorry if I am not clear at all but I didnt think he would have a problem like this so soon.

    Okay, that is much better.:D

Since he was dewormed yesterday, the blood could be from the worms dying and releasing the grip on intestinal walls.

Did they do a fecal? Where any worms noted?

I think I would give it until tomorrow or Monday I guess, and if the dog is still bleeding then call the vet for advice.

Your pup also might seem a little tired for a day or two from the shots.

It was the kennel cough I was thinking about that you posted about before.
    I knew it was something.:D

I wish you the best, and if anything worsens take him in as an emergency.

    Keep us updated.;)
    Julie.

The pale mustard stuff was probably the worm med. pyrantel pamoate is that color and it will kill adult roundworms and hookworms. (Should have another dosage in about 2 weeks.) If your dog has ever had fleas also be on the lookout for tapeworms. The tapeworm segments are short and flat with a wave like motion, but when they are dried up they look like grains of rice. He will need a different wormer to kill those if present.

I am not that familar with kennel cough, but I know the vaccine is thru the nose. I am not really sure why they would administer that if your dog already has kennel cough, but since I am not a vet, I guess they would have a reason.

    Best of Luck.;)
