Here's the story

We have a 9 1/2 week old German Shorthaired Pointer and we're having some trouble, mabe not problem but need some advice.

My wife and I both work, so we decided to crate train along with having a "puppy Place", which is our kitchen. The crate training is going well , but we feel like the "puppy place is screwing things up.

He is left at home for about 4 hours a day by himself as i can come home for lunch and two days a week we have different schedules. It is that reason that we decided to go with the Puppy place. We know that he cannot control his bladder yet to hold it for 4 hours so we use pee pads.

Our problem is that when we are here with him he is peeing and pooping in the house, basically in diferent places each day. he is peeing on the pads fine, but also other places. We want to move to complete house training, how old should he be before we can leave him in his crate for 4 hours and not worry that there is no way he can hold it.

Thanks.

As for how old when he can hold it for 4 hours, I would think sometime between 4 and 5 months old.

As for when you are home, is he running loose through the house unsupervised? You need to set up a schedule of pottying, incorporated into feeding and playtime schedules when you're home as well. And you need to supervise him, meaning he needs to be in the room with you.

Does he hold it all night in the crate?

I would think he might be able to make it now and I would try.

We got Wrigley at 10 weeks and he was fine for around 3-4 hours at that age

It depends on the puppy, but most 10 week old puppies can't be relied upon to hold it in for 4 hours. Even when you are home your puppy needs to be crated if you can't watch him carefully. Only increase his freedom when he starts showing bladder control.
