Hi,

Can anyone help? My 8 Week old puppy has just got a sachet of calpol out of my handbag. He had eaten about half of it before I realised.

Will he be ok? Is paracetamol a poison to dogs?

Any help much appreciated.

Shar.

The peroxide won't hurt the puppy and will make him vomit quickly.

Start with a teaspoon worth. Hold his head back, and put it in the back of his throat, hold his head up to make him swallow.

Use another teaspoon if he does not vomit in 5 mins.

I presume it's a form of Acetominophen....Tylenol.....

DEADLY for dogs.

It causes kidney and liver damage.

So sorry it has taken so long to get back to you all.

Took puppy (max) to the vets. He is fine. kept a really close eye on him, but he has no ill effects.

Paracetamol (which is a pain reliever here in the uK) can be dangerous for dogs. It is VERY poisonous to cats though.

luckily he only had a little bit, and it was a childrens sachet, so not very strong.

It has tought me a VERY important lesson though. You can't be too careful can you? He is into everything, and he is just too precious to take that chance.

Thanks everyone for all your help and thoughts:) :) :)

I've been thinking about you all day...glad everything's alright. You never can be too careful. But don't feel bad, these things happen to the best of us.
