I have a 9 month old puppy. I have had her for a while and she just recently started biting me and only me. She does it in a playful way and she is normally a very good dog but when she gets exited or scarred she always goes after me. I have tried to train her not to by telling her to sit, yelling at her, walking away, hitting her nose, tugging her collar, and trying to intimidate her. I have a feeling she will grow out of it, but I can't figure why I'm her target. It's like she treats me as if I were a dog. And tips? (Please don't tell me just to ignore her, I have tried that bu always end up getting more hurt)

You said she does it when excited or scared, can you give an example of when she does it while scared? Just want to be sure it's actually playful and not fear related or aggressive.

If it is playful your best bet is to say "ouch!" and walk out of the room where she cannot follow you (shut a door, step over a gate). Wait a few minutes then come back in. If she tries to bite you again immediately step back out. If she behaves grab a toy and encourage her to play with that. You will have to repeat this many times before she understands why you're leaving her and believes that you're really not going to give up. At first she may get frustrated that you keep leaving her and may even get slightly worse before she gets better.

Thanks for the tip, I will defiantly try it. An example of when she get scared and does it; once I was in the backyard with her and my dad was inside by a window and he sneezed. She didn't know we're the noise came from and she when crazy jumping and biting me. She does get scarred very easily and it is a bit conserving but we are trying to work on it.

So puppies, bite/mouth a lot, especially when excited. It's important to recognize that. Your reaction is wrong when the puppy is biting you. You need to have a much lower reaction. When you get excited/angry/frustrated you are raising the dog's excitability. Try not reacting. So the dog bites/mouths your arm.. 'act' like it doesn't hurt or irritate you (because of course it does)... don't pull away, leave your arm still and calmly say 'no' in a firm low voice. Repeat every time this happens. It takes a great amount of self control on your part but you will find that it works and not reacting will give you the upper hand.
