So I've fed the occasional pre-made raw in the past.... considering doing it again. My problem is I get lazy and forget to thaw out the next days meals in the fridge. But I am thinking of buying some plastic tupperware and storing at least 3 days meals in the fridge. Can you do that?

He would probably still be getting Acana kibble a few days a week - I'll be staying at my dads houses at least 2-3 nights a week while in school so this is when he'd be getting his kibble/wet food meals. But I am thinking I could do pre-made raw the rest of the days of the week.

When it comes to premade raw, is it similar to how kibble feeding guidelines are over-estimated? According to the Primal calculator, he would need (16lbs, maintain weight) 7.4 nuggets per day of the chicken formula. I'd probably cut down to just 7, so I don't have to deal with the .4 lol. But do you think 7 a day is too much for him? He eats between 2/3 cup - 3/4 cup of kibble per day depending on activity.

Feed 2% of his body weight per day to start cut that in half if it's only one of his meals for a day. Thawed raw is good for maximum 4 days in the fridge.

Like MandyPug said, I would start out with 2% of his body weight - which, at 16 lbs is 0.32 lbs, which equals roughly 5 oz (5 nuggets). That is a per day feeding - so make sure to divide that into two meals, or give him only 2.5 nuggets if he's getting kibble/canned for his other meal.

And yes, you can safely store 3-4 days worth of raw in the fridge. I just take out however much I need for the next day at night and put it in the fridge in tupperware - it's thawed by morning. Once you get in the routine, it's easy.

K, awesome. :)

I bought a bag of turkey and sardines. Hopefully he likes it. He was weird about the duck flavor last year. Sometimes he just wouldn't touch it. The Primal calculator suggests 10.7 nuggets per DAY for that formula! :yikes: It seems like it's alot...

I'll probably do 6 per day. I'm aiming to feed all raw for a whole day, not splitting it up kibble in the PM and raw in the AM. I'll just do 3 nuggets in the AM and 3 nuggets in the PM. On the days we spend at my dads house, he'll be getting kibble/wet for both breakfast and dinner. If that makes sense. So probably 2-3 days a week will be all kibble/wet.

Bailey eats about half of what they recommend (he's ~38 pounds).

Also, I never thaw it -- just give him the frozen nuggets. LOL. It's much less messy and he doesn't care.
