If she's not eating all that well then please offer her a hard-boiled egg daily to help keep up her nutrition. Pedigree won't cut it!!!
she gets an egg with her food. Pedigree is just the better of the bads. I do offer her the Iams puppy food. she just wont eat dry dog food:confused: I have wetted it. I have `gotten the Iams gravy and she just licks it off. any Ideas on how to get her to like it? she likes doggie biscuits. she just seems so partial.

I know you are. But thank you for confirming it.

Take good care of this dog and in the future, when they are dumped and newly pregnant, do them a favor and just spay them immediately. The cost you will spend on raising the litter, etc will balance out to the spay.

I do not believe in any form of abortion. the cost of the spay is irrelivant. like I said I now have a job that I got just for the purpose of animal care. my vet knows me well. I also have an emergency account set up for any emergency care. IE C-section.

If she doesn't believe in abortions, then she doesn't believe in abortion.

As to the fact if she's really finding these dogs..........well. I'm not sure she's telling the truth on that one. She seems to find an aweful lot of pregnant dogs, as well as knowing a LOT about each of their pregnancy's.

better that she recieves decent care rather than being left out on her own in her condition...if you are able to find homes for the pups, and give them all good care, then congrats to you. It's more than I would be able to manage!

I thought it was kind of weird she knows the due date of the litter of an abandoned dog.

I don't believe in putting human beliefs and morals on animals. Just like when vegans or vegetarians try and put their dogs on a vegetarian diet. (I am a vegetarian..and my dogs eat meat).

Iams is very crappy too. Will she eat hard-boiled eggs or does she "get" them and refuse them? Have you considered ordering a decent feed online? It's dramatically important for a bitch in whelp.

You mentioned you got a job? I hope they will allow you 2-3 weeks off of work when this bitch whelps. You may want to talk to them now. She's an old dog and may do just fine, but the odds are against her. If she needs a section, there is a good chance you will have to latch the pups on every two hours to nurse with no exceptions.

I wish you the best with her.

she actually doesn't know if it would BE an abortion no? No ultrasound OR Xray has comfirmed the presence of whelps. If they are there and she's minimum 34 days along then movement heartbeats should be detectable on U/S and THAT should be done ASAP. If she is NOT pregnant...overweight...and not eating then perhaps there is another more pressing issue than pregnancy.

We here on this forum are not a definitive source...OP I hope you get this bitch U/S'd or Xrayed to CONFIRM the presences of whelps so other potentially dangerous issues can be looked into if she is not.

I dont have a due date. wow. I said around the end of January b/c I found her at the end of her heat on nov 25. and as of alot of pregnant dogs. I watched on being dumped when I was in 8th grade. I was living in Wilkes Barre PA. I now live in Mo and believe it or not when you live on a country road you get alot of dumped dogs. and I have only ever had one other dog that was dumped that I thought my neighbor took in but he changed his mind after he saw her breed. so I took her in. that is one dog in Pa and 2 here in Missouri (one dog last year and now numeg) in a two year span. but I guess to you thats an awefull lot.

I would love to know any other information that I know. other than what my vet tells me. IE by looking at nutmegs teeth he aged her to be around 6 years old.

punky girl I am a vegitarian to and I dont make my dogs vegitaran. I would never be able to sleep knowing I murdered them.

showpug she likes her eggs.and here I thought Iams was good. I guess the general choice changes. Here in my rinky dink town that is the best they have to offer. though I have been looking into chicken soup for the dogs soul. but unless I have a credit card/bank card I cant order it online. but I will be discussing this with my vet he may be able to get it for me.

for your info b/c I rehab animals I cannot have a day job that takes all day
b/c of the round the clock feedings. I milk cows so I get up at 4am and go milk cows and Im home between 6-7. then I go back at 4pm and do it again. And my mother is very supportive and would help if they needed care well I was gone.

Glad to hear that someone will be there around the clock to help her if she does end up with pups.

If you found her on Aug 25th, at the end of her heat cycle, she would have had her puppies in early November.

That's right...for her to be due now, or soon...she'd have to have been bred this time 2 months back...duh me lol. That'd be around Halloween thru Thanksgiving...which unless she was bred at the OP's home...?

Sounds like she needs a vetting and thyroid check perhaps, because of the weight issue. There's also NO reason not to spay her.

So, assuming your dates are right this time....do you plan on having her U/S'ed then to confirm she's actually pregnant with living whelps?

She'd be due anytime from Jan 10-27th BTW, if she was bred. You do know she could also be having a false pregnancy?

ok my vet said to come back in the beginning of January. no one said she was underweight. in fact she only looks pregnant when she lays down or sits,. when she stands she looks normal. hence why I said sometimes I think she is sometimes I dont.

buddysmom Im sorry you think Im a liar butu I guess your perfect and never had a momment where you have been busy doing two diffrent things and messed up.

and here I thought this forum would have changed.

I will do what ever my vet can do. no matter the cost. though he didnt mention U/S. but he may suggest a vet in the city an hour away that could do it for me.
