when she looks like she swallowed a basket ball, her hair sticks out in all directions, she sits around wisking her tail and can only get comfortable with her legs splayed out..she's ready. I wish i could have laid my ears back and wisked a tail around so the whole world would know how i felt when i swallowed my basketball. Poor ol cat.

Our cat went down in the basement and later came up looking completely deflated. I went down to find the kittens...i didn't find a drop of fluid anywhere nor heard any mewing.. finally i bumped into what i thought was an empty paper grocery sack standing straight up, not on it's side. I glanced down and 8 small newborn, clean as a whistle kittens were sound asleep in the bottom. How'd she do that?

A few years ago my daughter brought us a cat to take care of for her. She hadnt been fixed yet and one day got out. It was two days before we found her and she was expecting! She got hugh, miserable acting. Anyway, one night I woke up to hear this sound of a kitten, I could feel laying on top of the covers by my legs the cat. I reached down and felt something AWFUL! Sure enough she'd had 2 babies in bed with us! We fixed her up a little box we found in the house and moved her and her babies, cleaned up the bed and here she come back with her babies with still 2 more to come. Finally we put her in the box, put the box on the bed and she was happy. She just insisted she have her babies on our bed. So we sat there and watched as she had the rest of her babies. Finally we convinced her it was safe for the box to be on the floor next to our bed. It was funny because afterwards we tried other safe places but she'd always bring them to our room. We gave up. Then as the kittens were getting alittle bigger and starting to play, and figured out how to climb out of the box it got to the point we'd wake up every morning to 4 little kittens snuggled up in bed with us. Mom would have to come lay on the foot of the bed to watch her babies. We found good homes for them all, one person took 2 of the kittens and still sends pictures of them to us.

velcro kittys oh the days..taping blocks to the inside of doors so they wont' shut all the way..taping blocks to the underside of the rockers on my chair...sticky kittens up the drapes..i found one in the fridge when i opened it..ran across this in my old diary..said it would warm up quick because the temp was 103. (he hadn't been there very long) only thing worse than a house full of little kittens is a pet squirrel!

We have her in a medium dog carrier its kinda dark in it and she has an old saddle blanket in with her. What diet should we feed her? We've been giving her food lion brand cat food and every 3 days a can of tuna goes with it. Is that a good diet for an expecting cat?

I always gave (it is expensive, but oh so good for them) a jar of baby beef..puree like for human babies. Same for weaning the babies when it is time. I read about it in some vet book a long time ago. figure i could give the cat that should up the best shot at looking good (having kittens is very very hard on a cat) so i could find someone to adopt her after she was done raising her children. She showed up one night when i was taking the trash out. She was just huge. I am sure what you are feeding is fine..just make sure she gets lots of protein while being a mother. Cats are pretty tough creatures..it is the back to back litters that make them old before their time.

What should I feed her for Protein? I'm sorry for bugging you guys but I'm worried about her because we had a dog who died after having pups and we don't want her to die.

Glad Mama Cat and babies are okay!

By the way, I just read the post about feeding her tuna. You really don't want to do that for a couple of reasons: one, the mercury levels in tuna can be too high and two; it's my understanding that something about the way tuna is processed for human consumption destroys the taurine - an amino acid absolutely essential for cats - in the tuna.

If you want to fix her some chicken that's good. You can even just microwave it for her. If it has bones, you'll want to pull the meat off the bones. Don't ever give cats chicken bones. You can get frozen fish fillets very cheaply and microwave those, too.

Innova makes some excellent cat food, too. You'll really want to feed her a good cat food - that's actually the best thing you can do for her as far as food goes.

congrates and i am glad it was such a small litter..you were very fortunate there for it is soooo hard to find homes for kittens...if you are planning on having her fixed..don't wait too long. The stray came to my home to give birth was pregnant before the first batch was weaned. i thought she would be fine as long as the kittens were nursing. I started weaning them and dang it she was pg right away. I did eventually find a home for her and both litters..but u run out of friends real fast when it comes to something like that!

Congrats to mom & the kitties! I feed both of my cats Innova and we could see the difference in their fur and health. Tiny used to get sick a lot and since he's been on Innova, he's a much healthier cat.

Now spay your cat! Theirs already enough at the shelters, and most of the moms their are nearly kittens themselves. Don't want to cause kittens are just so cute? What about dead kittens? Still cute? Im done ranting. Its just an issue that hits close to home for me, since I wolunteer at an animal shelter. THE WORLD DOESNT NEED MORE KITTENS.

Anyway, Im glad the birth went well, and everybodys healthy.

Well our dachshund Shatzit (said like "Shot-see) Had gotten spayed and her teeth cleaned and some lumps removed she kept ripping out her staples for a while and she ran a vet bill of over 900$! even so she healthy and happy. The vet was surprised she had no back problems cause she's about 11 years old. and she hase'nt been to the vet since she was 4. so she did good.

(P.S. we found over 10 possible homes for them)
