Heard from my dad a few hours ago that he brought my mom to the hospital to get checked out. She had been vomiting and having other issues for a few days. They found a hernia that was strangulating the intestine and are operating right now.

So, please send your prayers and vibes to PA for her speedy recovery.

Thanks!

Oh gosh! I'm glad she went in right away so they discovered it quickly. She'll be okay. Don't worry. I will definitely be thinking of her. Surgery is no fun. She'll be sore for a while. Lots of get well vibes coming her way.

Waiting outside the ICU. She is out of recovery and getting settled here. The nurse said that her vitals are good. Bp, pulse, blood ox levels, etc. she was awake and responding well. Haven't gotten to see her yet though.

Ok, so some of this is a repeat, but here is the whole thing:

I just got home from the hospital. Mom had surgery to repair a hernia and they removed a length of small intestine that had become necrotic due to strangulation from the hernia (which was apparently grapefruit sized). They patched the intestine with a piece of pig intestine.

Her kidney function was low due to dehydration so between the recovery from the open surgery and this, she will likely be in the hospital for a couple of weeks. I did not get to see her, but my dad did and she was asleep. We were told that she was awake, stable and her pain was not very high. We all decided to go home and get some sleep. Dad
will return tomorrow where he hopefully will get to see her.

Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers.

Scary! I'm glad they were able to repair her intestine. My mom had hernia surgery about a month ago and she hurt pretty bad for a few days, then started to feel better after about a week. She only hurts if she overdoes it now. Hopefully your mom's recovery will be just as quick!
